I love the fun of this technique, and did the envelope and some of the background paper and then on my photo..yeah, I get carried away, but oh so much fun!
Man if I had a dime for every time I tossed out what I was doing and started over I could buy another kit. Or repay my bank account for what I've already spent this week ...
Anyway. This was really fun and really educational. I've played around with brushes before but today I found a new setting I hadn't yet noticed in the latest version of gimp.
This was made using nothing but brushes, clipping, and background papers. The painted borders are the white and black, made with that spanking new oil paint brush I found.
I usually edge my elements and papers with a PS style but I did it by hand for the sake of this challenge and I have to say that my carpal tunnel DID NOT approve. I'll stick to styles from now on!
January 15 Painted Edges
Worked a while on this and am not super happy with it. I will continue to play with it and see what I can learn. That’s my favorite thing about these challenges, moving me out of my comfort zone and learning new skills.
I was totally not excited about this challenge, then after a day or two, I realized... Wait a minute... I used to do this all the time when I paper scrapped... that was making the edges dark with the little cats eye chalk thingie... a very favorite technique... So once I was on board, it was a matter of choosing a subject matter where it would work as I would have used it back in the day... So typically (for me) This would have been applied to the photo with no mat or before the mat... So that is what you are seeing here... As for the technique... it was super easy and fun... just may have to use that one again... thanks for the challenge...
