January 14: Mosaic Photo Effect

I watched the PSE 11 tutorial on creating a collage, but couldn't figure out how to make it work. I started over with a blank page and all the photos and just added them, shifted, resized and merged them all together. I used that block as a background to add the cover photo to and used the blending mode and transparency slider to come up with something I think works. My collage photos are bigger than your example, but I think it still worked.

We got married during the first lockdown.

I found this tutorial for GIMP. This is a free software, you can edit your collage and photo here, then take the result in the software you use. You will also need an G'MIC extension to install.

I am working on my page now, and we will see the result.

You're a rockstar, thank you so much ❤️
've always used The Gimp to scrap, so I'm going to check that out and hope it makes it easier for me :D (somehow, people never think to include tutorials for The Gimp...).

Well I knew I was in trouble when I saw your photo come up Jan @IntenseMagic! Clearly I did not understand this complicated technique but I gave it the old "school girl" try. Here's the result -- I'm calling it done! The journaling is for you. If you need a better example to fulfill the requirements of this challenge you need to send Randy up!!!

And this should be good for your laugh of the day.

This absolutely made my day!! I love it so much!
And it makes me giggle a little that you know you're in trouble when you see my photo :giggle

And seriously... to all of you... you're killing it and I am so impressed with your creativity and resourcefulness!! Thank you for putting up with me!! I'll be back to commenting as soon as I grab a bite!!

I've done contact sheets before, but never saved them as a pattern. Fun technique. My contact sheet ended up having 90 photos, 9 across, 10 down. Photos are from the family gathering on Christmas Eve.

I don't really like the way mine came out and I was completely intimidated with the tutorial, although if I had more time, I would probably try to do it, so I used AndreaMosiac and what a cool app indeed, but it was a bit of a learning curve for me too and I used the tutorial. It's a really cool app if you want to check it out, when you get it completed it opens a html window and anywhere you click it pulls up the tiny photo so you can see what it used. Credits are in the gallery.

Thank you for this challenge. I would never have known how to do this if not for your tutorial! Edit to say: This is my Oldest Grand-daughter, Alana, and her husband, Mark. My mosaic is made up of all of the other photos that were taken at the wedding.

Okay, I am absolutely OBSESSED with this technique! I thought it would be so much harder than it actually was. I used a skyline picture I took of Boston and all of the photos are from the various times I've been there. Thank you for the AWESOME challenge!
