    Hi Everyone,

It’s march and that means time for some new challenges! You might remember I hosted the Flat Lay Photography challenge at MOC 8 and that was all about a Birds Eye View shot taken from above. Well this month we’re going to shoot from below eye level which is called a LOW ANGLE SHOT.

This effect is such a fun way too view and capture our subjects from a different perspective. You can shoot from the hip slightly angling your camera or smart phone upwards or if you’re more agile get down real low to the ground so that you can create a sense of grandeur to your subject. In fact by shooting your subject from below the eye line you are effectively making the subject look strong and powerful, which is what we want to achieve.

Here are some artistic examples to help inspire you with achieving this photo effect. I really don’t want to see a tonne of tree shots so lets try and get creative with this one ;)

    CHALLENGE CRITERIA:

    • Let’s get creative and take a LOW ANGLE SHOT.
    • Create a page that showcases your new photo.
I created a page about our local bridge that connects my end of the coast with the southern end. It recently went under a huge upgrade to accomodate the light rail system. When we rode underneath I knew it would be the perfect subject for this photography challenge. So I clambered down the side face of the bridges foundations and took a shot from underneath the bridge span. Even though the bridge only spans 375 meters long the low angle shot captures the linear perspective which makes it appear much grander in scale.

As always, please remember the monthly challenge rules: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the March Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread.

The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month:

    2 challenges = 10% off
    4 challenges = 20% off
    6 challenges = 30% off

If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).

I can't wait to see your low angle shots!

@Justagirl Em, I had the perfect tree photo to use here, but I was afraid of you hating me :giggle....so I used this one, the largest one, trying to get down to catch the whole subject - the building...let me know if it's ok!!

Thanks for this challenge. I remembered that I took such photos in my garden, so I searched and found this one.
