First of all, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the November Challenge!! Participation coupons will be coming soon and an extra congrats to @jp504, who is our random draw winner!!

**Rachel Jefferies December 2023 Mixed Media Challenge**

I am so excited to be here hosting this month! I know there is a lot going on this time of year and we are all busy with holiday things, whether they be projects, crafts, or just general holiday planning and prep!

Taking a little pause at this time of year to reflect can be a wonderfully meaningful exercise. It helps us to gain perspective on our experiences and can help us to learn and grow going into the new year. It’s also a great time to celebrate your achievements or identify your patterns.

For this challenge, I’m asking you to take a little time to do just that - Reflect on your 2023. You can choose to focus on the year as a whole, or pick a specific time or event from the past year that was meaningful for you. I’d also like you to include 2023 somewhere on your page. To give you a little jump start, I’ve compiled a list of prompts that you can choose from or you can come up with one of your own as long as it ties in with reflecting on something about 2023:

What were some meaningful moments of this year?
What were some unexpected events of this year?
What are my top photos of this year?
What did I accomplish this year?
What was my favorite book/movie/song of this year?
Who made a difference in my life this year?
What challenges did I face this year?
How did relationships change this year?

Now, for a little twist. Since our focus is on “reflection”, I would like for you to create a reflection somewhere on your page using elements, papers, paints…anything at all. I’d just like to be able to tell the reflection is there, meaning if it looks the same way reflected as it normally would, I’m not going to know it’s a reflection, if that makes sense.

Here’s my example page using The Complete Mixed Media Collection | Past to Present:

2023-Adventures.jpg

For this page, I chose to journal about my favorite part of the year being traveling with my son to historical sites this past year.

I created a reflection of the leaf and flower cluster included in the collection by just using the transform tool and flipping it horizontal. You’ll see one at the top of the page and one at the bottom.

And here is a page from @Roxana

Now it’s your turn!
Challenge requirements
  • Create a new page reflecting on 2023 in some way.
  • Include the year 2023 somewhere on your page
  • “Reflect” one element on your page, horizontally or vertically, but I should be able to tell it is a reflection
  • Use at least 75% of Rachel's Product. Any remaining percentage must be product from another current TLP designer.
  • The product can be currently available in the TLP Shop or be retired products from Rachel or a current TLP designer.
  • Hybrid projects are also welcome and the same product rules apply. Where digital products are used in a hybrid project they must all come from current The LilyPad designers, and at least 75% must be Rachel's Product.
  • Upload your layout to the Rachel Jefferies Designs Gallery at TLP with your product credits.
  • For your challenge entry to be counted, you MUST upload your finished layout to this thread. Please link your gallery image to your post in this thread, as it helps us leave love on your layout (and validate your project).
  • No double-dipping… your layout must be created for this challenge only, no others. You must create a NEW layout for this challenge.
  • This challenge will remain open for the monthly coupons through December 31st, 2023.

Prizes and other important notes:
- All participants who post their page during the challenge month by the end of month deadline and meet the criteria will be eligible for a coupon of 15% off their next order (from Rachel's shop) of $10 or more.
- ONE lucky random winner who posts their page during the challenge month by the end of month deadline and meets the criteria will receive an $8.00 coupon for Rachel's Shop here at The LilyPad!
- Complete ALL twelve of Rachel's Mixed Media Challenges at The LilyPad in 2023 for a chance to enter her Annual Draw. The first drawn winner will be offered a three month Guest Gig on her Creative Team and the second drawn winner will receive a $20 coupon to her shop here at The LilyPad!
- In order to be eligible for the annual drawings for the Guest Gig or the $20 coupon to Rachel's shop, you will need to do the following:
- Complete ALL twelve of Rachel's Mixed Media Challenges at the LilyPad in 2023 by December 31, 2023 by 11:59 PM PDT. (Featured Product Challenges and Hear My Voice Challenges are excluded from the tracker and annual draw).
- Post the challenge layout in the appropriate challenge month thread for Rachel's Jefferies Mixed Media Challenges. We will keep an accumulative list for you in each month's challenge thread to make this easier. For example: Your January Challenge layout must be posted in the January Challenge thread and linked back to the gallery --even if you complete it in November, it must still be posted in the January Thread).
- Complete your tracker form with links to each challenge layout by December 31, 2023 by 11:59 PM PDT.
- Note: for the annual drawings, challenge pages will be accepted for individual challenges after the actual challenge month and the end of month deadlines have both passed.
- In order to qualify for the monthly winners coupon draw of $8 and the participation coupon you must complete the challenge during the challenge month by the end of month deadline as stated in each challenge thread.

I focused on one day's meaningful and impacting experience. And, I "borrowed" your tip for a reflection. I realize this is much cleaner and simpler than you are accustomed to seeing in a mixed media challenge but it's what called to me to create. Thanks for the challenge.

Great challenge ... sorry for the depressing layout. LOL It's basically a list of the ways I've been ill this year.

I let the bird clusters reflect eachother.

Now I just hope I've remembered to submit every page in the form. I know I've made them all. LOL

I'm really glad that I waited to do this one. I just got "Hear My Voice" 18 and it's perfect for what I want to scrap! I really hope I did upload every page I made. I know I have done them all! Is there any way to check?

Do you mean if you uploaded them to the gallery, you'd need to go back through the Designer Challenge Forum here I guess and find each monthly thread, locate your post to see (assuming you posted a layout in the thread that was clickable to your gallery) or cross reference back to your gallery to see if you posted them. Or did you mean if you uploaded all of your entries to your tracker? I could check that for you after the holidays :agree

Yes, I meant if I uploaded the entries to my tracker. There's no way to go back and make sure on my end. I double and triple checked my threads and gallery here. LOL

The tickets at the top and bottom are a reflection in a way even though I used the top and bottom of the tickets themselves. But if that doesn't count, a paper piece is also more exactly reflected above and under the photo. :)

12 out of 12 this year!

I used several reflections in this page. The photo is an image of a reflection. The flower clusters are reflections. The photo and journal card are the same size with the titles in the same area.

Hi! Everyone...

***Sensitive information about grief & health issues*

I haven't been here again...because I was once more in the hospital...I had to have emergency Gall Bladder surgery...Can you believe this?...After the tumultuous year I have had...I spent 2 days in the ER...& then they admitted me & I spent 2 weeks there...I am home now...recovering slowly...but the surgery didn't go as planned...My Gall Bladder is attached to my colon!...Seems these kinda things often happen to me...Something kind of unusual...So,I have a tube coming out if my abdomen with caps & a bag drain...They wouldn't let me go home until they got my pain regimen once again, changed & my pain under control...I seem to have the worst luck...So,I have to wait until the inflammation comes down...I have been to the ER 2 more times since I have come home...Hopefully things will go well...I will probably have to have more surgery...I have an appt. to see the doctor later in January...

Either way,I have been trying to get all 12 of these challenge done in time...Hopefully I have made it on time...

As per the rules of this challenge : I have the year 2023 included & I have done a few different reflections with elements...This will probably conclude my grief layouts...I'm not sure...This pretty much wraps up my difficult Christmas & Now New Year's Eve without my Beloved Ray...I'm still struggling...I have cried so much...but I am gonna be starting some Grief Recovery Counseling in a few weeks...

Thank You! Rachel & Everyone for these challenges!...It has helped me so much!!...

Here's My : Grief Story : Layout :
