Journaling Reads:
I started scrapping when Jamie was a toddler.
It was the early 1990’s. I discovered scrapping
at a DOTS stamping party and was instantly
hooked. Like most, I collected all the “things.”
As soon as I learned about digital scrapbooking,
that became my new love. I started by using
Microsoft Publisher, but quickly moved to
Photoshop.
Scrapping was all about documenting my boys
growing up and our family experiences. It was a
family joke at every outing that “this will end up
as a scrapbook page.” Now that they have grown,
I document more of my own experiences. But more
than that, I use the layouts to share my personal
beliefs, truths and memories. I imagine that one
day, they will treasure reading these stories I’ve
written, from my point of view. After my dad died,
I realized how cherished these layouts would be
to them one day. I also think of my grandchildren,
who no longer live close. Their memories of me will
likely be limited so these pages will remind them
of how often I thought of them. By using photos
from their mom, I’m able to still document their
lives as if I were with them.
And finally, I scrap for me. I love the creative
outlet it offers. It’s a way for me to de-stress, as I
focus on something positive. It’s so much fun to be
part of an online community and learn and share
with one another. It challenges me to continue
learning and growing personally. I’ve even started
to design my own kits. This was a dream come true
for me.
Loved reading your journaling. And I love the chevrons with the layouts and great title work. Wonderful page! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
