Dear Ingrid,
I just wanted to say thank you for what you are doing for Maximilien.
I remember our first meeting at the time of the forum of associations in 2019. Maximilien was doing the demonstration course. I saw him on the beam, not very reassured, and then a little girl came to give him her hand. I felt that this sport could bring him a lot on the sensory and vestibular level.
When I came to see you to ask about the registration, I immediately told you that Maximilien is autistic. This did not frighten you, quite the contrary. You already knew a little bit about him because you had already had an autistic child for 3 years in your classes. Of course, you knew that Maximilien was not going to be like this other child, but you knew that you could not expect the same thing from him as from the other children. And that was very important to me.
During the first few sessions, I stayed to watch but mostly to help with the outings. There were a lot of crises, a lot of crying, a lot of hitting.
We then tried to ritualise the lessons by introducing tools such as pictograms, a sequence, a timer, an entry and exit different from the other children. There were still crises, crying, blows.
But during the sessions, things went relatively well. It was really the exits that were a problem. It was hard for you, hard for me and of course hard for Maximilian. But you didn't push him away. You continued to welcome him and you continued to look for solutions to make things better for everyone.
And in the end, it was COVID that brought us solutions. The health protocol made it easier to go out. Maximilien felt calmer, the outings went much better, almost no more crises. At the end of the course, Maximilien comes back to greet you in a calm manner.
All this is thanks to your involvement, thanks to your acceptance of his difference. You have managed to build a solid relationship. He has confidence in you and this can be felt during the workshops.
It is a real pleasure to see him evolve now and this was only possible thanks to your dedication and your desire to integrate him into the group with his particularities.
Thank you, thank you. We look forward to coming back to the room.
This is so beautiful. I love the design on the notebook paper.. but most of all I adore your heatfull letter. She sounds like a very special person. Thank you so much for playing with me in this challenge this month ❤
Your words are beautiful and I feel so blessed that you chose to share this, Gaelle.
I tried to read the French but it has been many many years since school and I am glad you provided the translation. I like the simplicity of the page and how it looks just like you wrote it in a notepad.
