Finding inspiration

Hiya ladies! Sorry this is posting so late! I was out today with a dear friend, wedding dress shopping! Hello! Talk about inspiration, am I right?! WOW there are some amazing dresses out there!

I wanted to talk today about finding inspiration in the everyday of YOUR life! I think its easy to find inspiration on pinterest or from the amazing gallery, but I think its an important part of your story to sometimes look in our own world for that inspiration.

I had been carrying around this shirt from my girls for the past couples years. Its stained, and honestly no one would ever wear it again. But I loved it. I couldn’t let it go, I have issues! LOL Then I realized what I really REALLY really loved about it was the buttons, so I cut those babies off! At first they sat in this little dish on my desk for a couples days, until I realized how much the inspired me so I decided to base a whole layout using ALL of these cuties!

 

 

I really let the color guide me since that was what lead me to them in the first place, along with the fact that there was a RAINBOW of colors. So that’s EXACTLY what I did! Paired with some FUN products here in the store I made a layout that means more than meets the eye!

I understand hybrid isn’t for everyone, but you can certainly use the same idea of collecting inspiration from your stories to incorporate into the page, even if I simply used the “rainbow” of color, there would be more to this story than meets the eye! 🙂

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
