Phew! Polly Karen here! January is over and so the Month of Challenges 5 (MOC5) is drawing to it’s close today. All 31 daily challenges have been posted and the deadline to finish completing them all is tonight at 11:59 pm ET. How did everyone do? Were you playing along? Did you just do the challenges as you had time or were you like me… on a mission to finish them all? (I did it! Woo-hoo!) Well, if you were playing along and now you’re feeling a little sad that there aren’t any more daily challenges, I’m here to show off the 8 monthly challenges that the Challenge Pollys have created to soothe your MOC withdrawal.
Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%) AND everyone who completes at least 7 challenges will be considered for a one month guest spot on the creative team (The Pollys). So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Random Challenge – Heather (talktoheather) is hosting February’s Random Challenge and she is challenging you to create a layout with a big title. I’m adding the challenge (just kidding) that you won’t be able to create a cuter page than she did with her adorable new son:
2. Scraplift Challenge – The February Scraplift Challenge is being hosted by Amanda (MandaKay). Amanda has selected the ever talented Celeste for you to scraplift this month. Simply visit her gallery and find a layout that inspires you and then create your layout by drawing inspiration from her layout. Here is a layout by Celeste, followed by Amanda’s scraplifted version:
3. Inspiration Challenge – This month’s Inspiration Challenge is SO creative and in the brainchild of our fearless Challenge Leader Julie (mrs2a50). Julie wants you to channel your inner Instagram hashtag skills (or pretend, if you’re like me and not that great at it) and create a layout with all journaling in the form of hashtags. #JustTryIt #HowBadCouldYouDo Ha ha! Here is a fabulous sample layout that Julie created to get you started:
4. Template Challenge – Renee (renee82) is the host for February’s Template Challenge. Our newest designer, Sabrina of Sabrina’s Creations, has supplied a gorgeous free template for you to play with this month. Simply download the free template and create a layout using it. Here is an awesome page created by Renee:
5. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for February is being hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and she is challenging you to scrap a layout featuring a photo using the prompt “looking down.” Ashley created this awesome example layout:
6. Style Challenge – The Style Challenge for February, hosted by Lori (lcpereyra), is to create a monochromatic layout. Select one color and then create a layout that uses only tints and shades of that one color. Lori created this monochromatic layout and makes is look so easy!
7. Journaling Challenge – Heather (HeatherB) is hosting this month’s journaling challenge and she wants you to create a layout that implements a questionnaire. You simply come up with a list of questions, interview your subject and then create a layout with the questions and answers as your journaling. Here is a fabulous two page spread that Heather created after interviewing her two boys:
8. BYOC Challenge – Last but not least we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Jenn (jk703) tomorrow, Friday February 3rd, when the new BYOC collection for February will be released in the store. This challenge is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
Another month and another 8 great new challenges to keep you busy scrapping. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the February Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
