Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again to give you a quick overview of all the new challenges for February. Now that our Month of Challenges is wrapping up, I know many of us woke up looking for a new challenge and while there won’t be a new one each day, if you pace yourself you could have a new one each day for a week! Ha ha! Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Inspiration Challenge – The first challenge for February is the Inspiration Challenge hosted by Jenn (AKA jk703). Jenn has a fun way to dive back into the MOC gallery. She has five layouts that she picked from the MOC gallery and would like you to pick one part of each layout and combine them together into a new layout. The five layouts are shown in the forum thread and here is the layout Jenn created:
2. Style Challenge – Next up is the Style Challenge hosted by Justine (AKA bellbird). Justine would like to challenge you to dive into the style of metallics. She would like to see you create a layout with at least 5 metallic elements, alphas or papers. Here’s a super fun layout she created with lots of metallic items:
3. Scraplift Challenge – The scraplift challenge for February is hosted by Ashley (ashleywb). Ashley has the fun idea to dive into the massive MOC 9 Gallery and find a layout that you love and created a scraplifted version of it. There is definitely no lack of inspiration there! You could also check out the 3 giant Spotlight Blog post here on the blog for some gems to lift too! Here is a layout that Ashely chose followed by her scraplifted version:
4. Template Challenge – Natasha (AKA bcnatty) is hosting the Template Challenge for February. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Cheryl of Fiddle Dee Dee and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Natasha created:
5. Journaling Challenge – The Journaling Challenge for February is hosted by Lori (AKA lcpereyra). Lori would like you to journal about hope this month. You can journal about things that bring you hope, thing you are hopeful for or what the word hope means to you. Lori would like to see at least 5 full sentences for your journaling. Here is a beautiful layout that Lori created about her hopes:
6. Photography Challenge – This month Courtney (AKA bestcee) is hosting the Photography. She would like you to capture something in your life that might seem repetitive, but is part of your daily routine. Courtney would like you to capture your routine by snapping a picture of a clock and then something that happens at that time that is part of your normal routine. Here’s a layout she created as a sample:
7. Random Challenge – Christa (AKA cfile) is hosting the Random challenge this month. She would like to keep the awesome momentum from MOC (Month of Challenges) alive by allowing you to pick from one of three options: 1) pick a page you want to redo, 2) Pick a challenge you loved and do it again OR 3) if you didn’t participate in MOC, pick any MOC challenge you would like and do it for the random challenge this month. That’s a lot of fun freedom! Christa chose to redo her page from the the acrostic challenge from Day 17. Here’s a look at her original page create with the word “create” followed by her new page based on the word “family”:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Heather (HeatherB) on Friday, February 5th when the BYOC Collection for February will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
There is your peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the February Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month.
