Hiya friends! I hope life finds you doing well this beautiful Friday!!!! I know here in Northern California we are experiencing a bit of a wet start to spring, but its much needed after a dry winter. Before we get started, just a side note .. .have you checked out the store today!? SOME SERIOUSLY YUMMY new goodies at the PAD today!!So since the last time we chatted I have discovered a whole new layer of hybrid. Can you believe that? Yeah, me either .. honestly! :)TEMPLATES!!!!!! :) I know who would have thought a paper scrapbooker could use digital templates in an effective way? Here is what I really love about it girls... when you are using digital paper for paper scrapbooking you are needing to print off more paper than you might use. With templates you are ONLY printing what you will use! Awesome right? They way you do this is with the Cameo's print and cut feature, which I am … [Read more...]

Pictures without Faces
If your kids are anything like my kids, they get tired of having their pictures taken. And, of course, since it's our full-time job as memory keepers to have the camera in their face at all times, sometimes it just doesn't go as planned.I've recently embraced snapping a picture and preserving the memory without the perfect picture, and one way to make that happen is to focus on something other than their face. My kids love it when I ask them to take a picture, but let them know they don't have to smile. ;) Here are a few examples:I wanted to document that my son was reading to my daughter, but knew that I would ruin the moment if I made them stop and pose for a picture. An art project my son entered into a show - after several failed attempts at a real smile, I just went with this one. He was so proud of it, and I loved that he kept pointing things out to me.Watching her brother's … [Read more...]
Scattering a little bit of happy…
Recently, Chantal (aka Frilly Spaghetti here at The Lilypad) wrote an article in MSA's, Home Is Where the Art Is, magazine where she showcased her new found obsession for confetti. I'll be the first to admit, the pages that she pinned and shared with the readers had me in awe. It really is the simplest of things that make something good, great. Since reading her article I have been on the lookout for some confetti to sprinkle on my own pages (since I still haven't found the time to start Project Life). Naturally my first stop to shop was right here! I just wanted to share a few products with you that I found and love that will help me achieve the same look on my digi pages as what PL'ers are adding to their albums. ... and I absolutely ADORE these for photos....Are those little bits of scattered paper inspiring you? I hope so. I always think of confetti … [Read more...]
March Challenge Spotlight
Hello everyone! Karen here with my challenge spotlight for the month of March. I am always amazed at the creativity everyone shows with the challenges and the pages everyone has made this month are no exception. It was difficult for me to narrow it down to only two for each of the 7 challenges, but I finally managed to do it. These are some of my favorites so far this month: Journaling Challenge:By stampin_rachel: by pinkadoo: Scraplift Challenge:by limoncello: by Laura: Template Challenge:by eranslow: by joelsgirl: Random Challenge (the color orange):by AmberR: by staciahall: One Word Challenge (Luck/Lucky):by Tracyfish: by whatannaloves: BYOC Challenge:by JanaM: by 4noisyboys:Products Challenge (papers):by … [Read more...]
Same Place, Different Time
Lately I've been intrigued by the concept of taking photographs of the same place, but at different times. It started with the website "Dear Photograph". I discovered this website last year. On this website, people submit photos of themselves holding an old photograph superimposed over the same location. It is fascinating! The submitters also write a caption for the photos and there are so many interesting stories there. Here are a couple of examples from "Dear Photograph", linked back to the source. Then, I found some examples of people who took photos of the same place during different seasons. What a great idea for a scrapbook page! {All photos link back to the source.} And then I found a guy named Eirik Solheim in Norway who took a photograph out his living room window every day for a year. He made a video of them and it's … [Read more...]
Giving Hybrid Another Chance V2
Hiya friends!!! Its spring break here for the kids and I, we are enjoying a Monday off! I hope your day is going as well! :)I talked last month about giving hybrid another chance. Using digital products along with paper products in a whole new way. I wanted to share a couple more ideas with you along the same lines.First off .. I am sure you have heard all the BUZZ about the Cameo, and its AWESOMENESS!~ In fact, Christine (supertwinkle) did the MOST AMAZING tutorial on using the print and cut application along with Lilypad products! Did you know you can also add sketch pens into the cameo, pair them with lilypad doodles and create a whole new level of fun!?!?!The advantage of doing it this way is you can use a 12x12 piece of paper (for those of us without a large format printer) and to me it actually looks like you doodled on the page rather than printed. You really have to see it … [Read more...]

On the other side of the lens
I have taken up a couple of projects this year, but one of my favorites is the Monthly Self Portrait Challenge. I've committed to taking at least one picture of myself every month. Too often (especially after I got my dSLR) I find that I am in far less photos than everyone else. While I love taking pictures of (and scrapping) my friends and family, I also love having pictures of myself! After all, I scrap to preserve memories, and it's not just my friends and family who are worth remembering. I am a very important part of those memories as well. So I want to challenge you to take some more self portraits. You don't have to do one every month like I am, but at least promise me you'll take one this year.In case you're not sure where to start, I have a few suggestions for you.1. Grab a partner in crime!First of all, it's a LOT easier to use a remote, but you can still get some … [Read more...]
