Behind the Design of Lynne-Marie Digital Designs

Hi all!  Polly Jewelle here with another edition of Behind the Design.  With a little bit of pleading and maybe a few bribes the designers here at The LilyPad to agreed to show off their design spaces at home.  They also agreed to answer a few questions about their design space that will allow us to get to know them better.  This month we are going behind the designs of

Mac or PC?

Mac all the way!!  I have a very old one though.  It’s a 2011 PowerBook Pro, 17″ screen, 2,5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 6 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (I just copied that off my computer – I have no idea what it means!)  My husband is the tech guy and I just scream when something doesn’t work.  I’ll be updating my computer soon… hopefully!

Coffee or tea (or both/neither)?

Ok, so I’ve been addicted to coffee since University, but I recently quit… so right now it’s neither!

Guilty pleasure snack while creating/scrapping?

I usually don’t eat when I’m creating.  I forget to… and then I’ll compensate afterwards.  When I’m procrastinating… well that’s another story.

Favorite music to listen to?

I tend to love female singers with low-mid ranges, so I can sing along!  My favorites would be Feist, Adele, Norah Jones, Sarah McLauchlan, and Quebec French singer Andrea Lindsay.

Your view from your scrap space?

I see outside the kitchen patio door onto the balcony and our 28,000 square feet of land (yes, we live in the country)!   I see the boys jumping on the trampoline and playing water guns with the boys next door. Our lot is surrounded by 48 massive maple trees that create a canopy over the backyard.  In the winter I see 5-6 feet of snow.  🙂

What software do you use to create with?

I use Adobe CS5 – both Photoshop and Illustrator, though I tend to rely on PS a lot more.  I’ve been planning to learn more about Illustrator – bought the courses and all – just no time to sink into it!

Favorite photo editing tools?

I have Lightroom, but I have never even opened it yet!  Again, I have the course to learn how to use it, so that’s a start!  I find that PS meets most of my photo editing needs.  In fact, I often just use my iphone apps to edit.  They’re so handy!

Favorite time to create (morning or evening)?

The best time for me to create is anytime that the kids aren’t around.  Unfortunately, that often ends up being during the night. I am trying to correct this though.  I just can’t function without sleep like I used to.

Favorite thing about your workspace?

I love the view and lighting in my workspace (the kitchen table or the couch in the living room) and I love that I am available to for the family.

Least favorite thing about your workspace?

On the flipside, I really don’t like having to pack everything up for meals and being constantly interrupted.  That’s why I usually wait till everyone is in bed.

What would you dream workspace look like and where would it be?

Ideally, I would have a well lit room with an area to spread my artwork and leave my mess-in-the-making, BUT, it would be well designed and organized.  The room I had planned for my workspace is in the basement, so that’s not the best, but it’ll work.  If we won the lottery, I would build an extension on the house with a garage and a loft above it for my studio, overlooking the backyard.

Lynn-Marie sent this lovely description of how her workspace has evolved and changed!

I find it pretty amazing that Lynne-Marie only has her kitchen table to create at!  That takes a lot of dedication to not get distracted with life swirling around you.  Hopefully she can get that beautiful workspace she is working towards soon! How about you?  What did you enjoy learning about Lynne-Marie and her design space?  Be sure and let us know in the comments!
