August Challenges
Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again with a look at our new batch of monthly challenges for Augst. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Scraplift Challenge – Ashley (ashleywb) is hosting the Scraplift Challenge for this month and she has selected the very talented Jagruti Patel to scraplift this month. Simply take a look at Jagruti’s Gallery and find a layout you love, then create a layout inspired by it. Here is a look at a layout that Ashley picked, followed by her scraplifted version:
2. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for August is being hosted by Lori (lcpereyra) and she is challenging you to create a layout that uses large numbers as a graphic element. I love how she incorporated large numbers onto her fabulous sample page:
3. Photography Challenge – Courtney (bestcee) is hosting this month’s Photography Challenge. She wants you to capture your creative workspace with a photo this month. Here’s a layout Courtney creative of her own workspace:
4. Style Challenge – Next up is the Style Challenge hosted by Natasha (bcnatty). Natasha’s challenge is to create a layout with all your items within the outer 1/4 edges of your page. Here’s is her fabulously designed layout with elements along the top and bottom edges:
5. Journaling Challenge – Christa (cfile) is hosting this month’s Journaling Challenge and she is challenging you to create a layout with journaling about a new dish you’ve recently tried or made. She created this great layout with lots of journaling about this new recipe that she recently tried… made me hungry! Ha ha!
6. Template Challenge – The Template Challenge for August is being hosted by Heather (HeatherB). All you have to do to play along is download the free template made by Sahin Designs and then create a layout using that fun template. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample layout that Heather made using it:
7. Random Challenge – I am thrilled to be filling in for a challenge this month by hosting the Random Challenge. My challenge is to capture a favorite summertime activity on your layout. Ice cream is a huge staple for us in the summer, so I had to capture our love of bike rides that usually end up at an ice cream shop:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Jenn (jk703) on Friday, August 2nd, when the BYOC Collection for August will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.

There is your quick peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above.
