December Challenges

Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again to give you a quick overview of all the new challenges for December. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Scraplift Challenge – This month’s Scraplift Challenge is hosted by Christa (cfile) and she chose the amazing Polly Julie (mrs2a50) as the scrapper to scraplift in December. Simply go to Julie’s gallery and find one layout you love and then create your own scraplifted version. Christa found a great layout by Julie and then scraplifted it:

2. Style Challenge – Next up we have the Style Challenge hosted by Em (Justagirl). Em is challenging you to create a layout that showcases a wreath as a main design component. You must also include foliage on your page. Here is a gorgeous wreath layout that Em created:
3. Journaling Challenge – The Journaling Challenge for December is hosted by Rae (bcgal00) and she wants you to create a layout with at least 4 sentences about a GIFT that you have bought or received. The word GIFT must be included somewhere in your journaling. Here’s a gorgeous layout Rae created for this challenge:
4. Template Challenge – Next up is the template challenge. Heather (HeatherB) is hosting the Template Challenge for December. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Kate Hadfield and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Heather created:
5. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for this month is hosted by Courtney (bestcee) and she is challenging you to take a photo of something RED and then scrap it. Here is a great layout that Courtney created to spark your creativity:
6. Random Challenge – This month Ashley (ashleywb) is hosting the Random Challenge and her challenge to you is to create a layout about one of your traditions. You can use as many photos as you’d like, but you must include at least one line of journaling about your chosen tradition. Here’s a great layout Ashley created about one of her family’s favorite Christmas traditions:
7. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for December is hosted by Jenn (jk703) and she is channeling the great TV show Sesame Street for this challenge. Remember how instead of regular commercial breaks they had sponsors like numbers and letters? Jenn wants you to create a layout “sponsored” by TWO items. Your layout must contain TWO of the following: a single strong main color, a large prominent number, a large prominent letter, a main type of pattern, and/or a main repeated shape. You may have more than one color (number, letter, pattern or shape), but I would love to be able to quickly see your prominent color (number, letter, pattern or shape) on your layout. Remember to pick TWO. Here is Jenn’s layout “sponsored” by Brown and Leaves:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Lori (lcpereyra) on Friday, December 6th when December’s BYOC Collection will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from December’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
There you have your at-a-glance overview of this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the December Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
