Artsy Photos

Happy Saturday everyone!  I just wanted to jump in with a quick tip for creating artsy layouts.  I love the artsy/painty kits and elements and tend to create photo-less, art journal type pages with them.  However, these kits and elements can create awesome pages to highlight your own photos too.  One trick I love is taking my photos and applying an artsy filter to them to help them blend more seamlessly with the artsy style of the page.  Of course, sketch filters are my favorite (one look at my gallery definitely confirms it) – but any artsy type filter will do the job.

Here are a couple  examples of this technique in action.  (Both of them use elements from different kits in the “of so awesome” April BYOC Collection.)

As you can see, this page uses the sketch photo as a background element, with a more traditional style photo in a frame.  But you can also use the sketch photo in a traditional frame, as I did on this page:

I love the look of combining artsy elements with more traditional elements because it adds a cool dimensional effect to the page.  When you add your own photos to the mix it creates pure perfection!

If you don’t like the look of traditional photos with the more artsy elements and kits, try applying an artsy photo filter to them and create your own, more personalized works of art. 🙂

Until next time ~
Judie
