This morning, my almost 15 year old boy woke early to go with his classmates in Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps(ROTC) to set up flags in our little town. I was so proud of him, because I am so proud of America and the countries around the world that joined in prayer and support for the United States of America twelve years ago, as our lives changed dramatically.
That very day, my husband and I were in the middle of some intense decisions for our lives. We had an appointment that very afternoon that would change our lives also. That first plane hit, and it was just a tragedy, something that happens, and we would get through it. Then the second plane hit and the realization that our country had just been breached brought fear and anger. The little things in our lives that we believed to be so important, became minuscule. We held hands and vowed to hang on through the darkness. The appointment was cancelled, and our lives changed too.
We watched the horror unfold, but found such hope in our world as nation after nation stood next to us in unity. I don’t think I have ever been so proud of people as a whole! In this little world of digital scrapbooking, we have people from practically every walk of life that can connect to a computer. What a privileged it is to become friends across the world wide web. Our religions and political viewpoints may differ, our love of foods and even sports teams may be vastly different, but we all share the desire to open our program of choice, and bring our hearts and thoughts onto a page to enjoy and share.
I hope today, you remember September 11th, as I have vowed not too forget the day and the days that transpired. The unity of people across the world. Thank you my friends, for remembering!

Beautiful Blog post Anne. Thank you. My home town lost many people that dreadful day – The Viggiano Brothers (one an FDNY, the other NYPD), Ray Downey – FDNY and many others with FDNY, NYPD and Cantor Fitzgerald. I will never forget that day as long as I live, and tears come to my eyes as I remember all those that were lost. Those that went to work in the morning and never returned home, and those that risked their lives to save others. God Bless America, and we will NEVER forget.
