Tuesday Gallery Standouts 11.24.09

Hi out there in digiland!  Renee here bringing you some gorgeous eye candy this week from our aweome gallery here at The Lilypad.  I’m so excited and had such a difficult time picking only 2!  So here I go!

As soon as I saw this LO by Nikki (nikkiARNGwife), I of course recognized her cute son but had to click on in right away because the journaling and whole design of the page had me intrigued.  I love the way she used the grid stitching as a frame. Who would have thought it woud make such an awesome multiphoto LO and the way she placed blocks of paper in it with the scribbles adds so much element detail and interest.  Very creative.  But the way she did the journaling with the offset type lines and the fun alpha really makes this page shine.  What a wonderful keepsake for this stage of hers son’s life.  

 

This page by Steph (stephK) just blew me away.  Steph has this way of making creative chaos (and I mean this as a compliment in every way) work for her.  I love all the messy paint and scibbles matting the fun photos and all the layers under her pics just add such depth to this page.  But I think one of my favorite parts of this page is how she placed her title.  I love the scattered alpha blocks.  She always has such awesome shadowing and I always emjoy her pages!  Awesome page, girl!

 

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
