I love playing around with ink and stamps and that is one of the reasons I love hybrid scrapbooking. You can easily download your scrapbooking kits, play around with them on the computer and then print what you want to use. A little bit of cutting and gluing, and you have a quick layout that is easily personalized to your style, without making trip to the store or waiting several days for something to arrive in the mail! I love to mix my digital elements and papers with inks and stamping and my own handwriting, which can make the layouts feel more personable and hopefully one day, more nostalgic. This month I used the Memory Pocket's Monthly: Wicked kit to create a couple of traditional 12x12 layouts and a few pages in a blank journal. I loved the color palette, and was so excited when I noticed that it complimented several of my ink pads so nicely! I have a large stash of inks and … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday: Journaling Prompts!
Hello Friends! Journaling is often such a big part of memory keeping and a wonderful way to preserve our thoughts, feelings and memories. Telling our stories can be therapeutic and helpful for not only us, but others. However, sometimes knowing what to document can create a stumbling block if we aren't sure where to start. When this happens, journaling and story prompts are a great tool for brainstorming ideas and topics to explore. Today I'd like to share some story prompts that can be used right now and in the month's ahead. The seasons will soon be changing and often the seasons of our life change with calendar and weather changes. So this is the focus for today's journaling prompts..."season of change". Interpret them however you like - seasons of life, seasons of nature, seasons of the calendar, or a mix of all of these!Layout credits: Memory Pockets Monthly: Change and … [Read more...]

Thoughtful Thursday: Why I Document Life
I have been an avid scrapbooker and photographer for decades. I have spent hours each week photographing my world around me, my children, our life together and scrapbooking the stories of our days. I have loved every minute of it and it has brought me so much joy and happiness. My family has loved it too - my children would often pull out their scrapbooks and browse through them as they happily relieved these memories. Many things contributed to that loss of joy and capturing our life was no longer a priority, nor was it something that I wanted to document. My enthusiasm and fondness for scrapbooking and memory keeping dwindled and then simply … [Read more...]
