Hello everyone! It’s a new month and that means a whole new batch of challenges here at The Lilypad. It’s Polly Karen here and I’m to give you a quick overview of all the new challenges for September. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Inspiration Challenge – The first challenge of the month is the Inspriation Challenge hosted by Em (Justagirl). Em is challenging you to create a layout that includes at least 3 types of foliage on it. She even included a Pinterest board called FOLIAGE FLAIR for extra inspiration. Here is a sample layout that Em created with her 3 different types of foliage (hand drawn, dimensional cut pieces and realistic):
2. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for September is being hosted by Lori (lcpereyra) and she would like to challenge you to take and use multiple photos from a single event and then create a layout using 3 or more photos. Here is a great layout Lori created from a recent beach day:
3. Random Challenge – The next challenge is hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and funny enough follows an unplanned developing theme of 3s for this month’s challenges. Ha ha! For this month’s Random Challenge, Ashley is challenging you to use at least 3 frames on your page. A stroke around a photo doesn’t count, so you need to use actual frame element. You can use the same one 3 or more times or you could even go crazy and use a bunch of mixed frames like Ashley did. Here’s her great sample layout:
4. Style Challenge – The Style Challenge for September is hosted by Natahsa (bcnatty). Natasha also worked lots of 3s into her challenge (I swear this was totally unplanned!). Natasha is challenging you to create a layout and use multiple letters and/or numbers in honor of back-to-school time for lots of us in the US. She wants you to use at least 3 letters or numbers on your layout. Here is an adorable page created by Natasha:
5. Journaling Challenge – Heather (HeatherB) is hosting this month’s journaling challenge and she would like you to create a layout with journaling about a milestone. Your journaling must have at least 5 sentences about your milestone. Here’s a great milestone layout that Heather created:
6. Scraplift Challenge – This month’s Scraplift Challenge is hosted by Rae (bcgal00) and she had the super fun idea to scraplift a layout from the blog! Simply find one of our blog posts that has a layout you like and then create your own scraplifted version. Rae found a great layout by KittyY posted for the “Travel Themed Inspiration” post and then scraplifted it:

7. Template Challenge – Next up is the template challenge. Christa (cfile) is hosting the Template Challenge for September. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Val of Little Butterfly Wings and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Christa created:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Jenn (jk703) on Friday, September 6th when September’s BYOC Collection will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from September’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
There is your at-a-glance overview of this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the September Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
