Hi there! Are you enjoying your Summer or dreaming of beach days while huddling under blankets on the other side of the world like me? I saw Courtney’s Photography prompt in the July Challenges is Water and I know my Summer photos used to be filled with water play and I was always looking for ways to amp up the water vibe in my page design! Let me share some of *your* pages that caught my eye in the gallery and have me layout planning pages featuring movement and waves – click on through to the gallery for full images, credits and to comment on any you love too!

- I’m loving the variety of ways mixed media has been used, from doodley waves to brushed lines and masked in paper and paint to extend a photo and bring movement into the page, and how that can be both tranquil and energetic!
- Layering paper cut-outs of scallops and freestyle wave shapes is really effective at giving that wave effect but also lots of depth to the page. Some of these use templates and others use pre-cut/diecut shape pack pieces but the effect is really dynamic and engaging!
- Choosing the right paper can be an instant wave maker too! The crumpled paper kayteapea here channels that choppy sea aesthetic and the pattern mrivas has used in a regular diagonal strip looks like it is wavy because of the patterned paper choice and how those stars are placed. Masking and blending in a paper can give a softer look too.
- Freestyle text in a wavy line or big eye catching wordart and cutfiles that have that organic wavy shape also give the feel of moving water.
- Torn paper edges and even just a well placed piece of curly ribbon or curvy string can create or amplify the waves in a photo – what a cool idea.
Hope you’re feeling inspired to make waves of your own in the gallery now and don’t forget to check out Courtney/bestcee’s Photography Challenge for July in the Challenge Pad!
