Scrapping; be it memory keeper, altered art maker or just art journaling, causes us to move less. Studies EVERYwhere show, moving less can cause your body to grow larger in places you don’t want to grow. Staying healthy sitting in front of a computer for hours and hours with a bowl of M&Ms or box of Chez-Its (my favorite) can really mess with your ability to maintain our girlish figures. Today, lets talk of things that can be done.
Setting time parameters for scrapping is a good beginning. I have a semi tough rule that I am doing, I must do ONE housework chore and exercise before sitting down to scrap. That way, when I eat my Chez-Its, no guilt if I have done treadmill already.
Sitting for long periods of time in front of a computer is tough on the body, we all know that. I try and get up every 45 minutes (yep, timer is the key) to walk around, water my plants (a chore I adore) and blink!
I was at our local municipal court house, setting up a court date for a ticket (I won). The ladies there were so kind and fit. I could not help but noticed, they had these way cool desk tops:
This ergonomically-designed standing desk converter transforms any desk into a standing desk, helping you improve focus, enhance collaboration, increase productivity, and boost calorie burn! It is easy to pull down so you can sit, or move to standing to get the blood moving. Just sitting or standing all day is not good for you either, so to be able to switch off is a great thing. To get the full health benefit of a standing desk, you need to be able to switch from sitting to standing. These things used to cost thousands, but are now under $200. I have one in my wishlist right now!
As I am researching, look at this cool treadmill desk:
Okay, they are for real, but I can’t even imagine the horrors of that treadmill desk! Plus with a price tag of over a grand, I think taking a break to treadmill and listen to a funny podcast is a better idea.
Enough of that! Water intake is another quick and easy way to keep healthy while you are scrapping. Finding a water bottle you like and set an alarm. Get up, and refill that water. This covers two good things, getting up and away from the screen for a bit, adding steps to your day, and getting water into you.
Keeping that bottle at your desk, in between scrapping, surfing or working on puter, take a swig. Keep at it and yeah, another break walking to the bathroom! woo hoo!
Then there is calorie intake or carbs, whatever is your diet. Keeping healthy snacks by your computer is huge. Snacking while scrapping can become a horrible habit, but you can break it by NOT eating meals while scrapping. I am guilty of this. It is a bad idea.
This next one is the hardest. Take a day or two and just don’t go on the computer, let your creativity have a rest to recharge and your body too. Go some where, take a zillion photos, listen to a book while hiking or walking anywhere and just enjoy the non computer time.
What are some things you do to keep healthy and scrap on the computer?
