Hi friends!
My husband and I have found our new favorite movie. In fact, we’ve already seen it in the theater twice and I am ready to watch it all over again. This movie, unexpectedly inspired me as a memory keeper and scrapbooker.
The movie that I am raving about is A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which is focused on Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers), the host of the long-time children’s television show, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.
The first time I watched this inspirational movie, I cried during pretty much every scene. I came home and just sat with all of my thoughts, journaling the things that I wanted to emulate in my own life. The second time we watched it, I continued to process and become even more inspired as a scrapbooker.
In the movie, Fred Rogers is shown several times taking photos of people that he interacts with. Through reading articles such as this one on Why Mister Rogers took Pictures of the People He Met, I realized that this was a very real part of his life that people noticed.
Through researching this I learned that Mr. Rogers was an avid photographer who loved creating his own photo albums and was known for always taking pictures of the people who came into his life.
Through taking pictures of all of his “new friends” he expressed his belief that, “we are all special, just the way we are”.
That inspires me so much as a scrapbooker! I am inspired to take more photos, even taking photos of new friends. Honestly, I am sometimes shy about this. I am also inspired by using my photos to express to others that they are special to me. Photography and memory keeping through scrapbooking can be a way to show kindness and love.
Taking photos honors the people and moments that make up our life. Scrapbooking honors the people and moments captured in our photos by preserving them and giving them a place of significance to reside.
I hope this reflective post helps to inspire and motivate you to continue taking photos and preserving them in your own scrapbooking!
