One HUGE page, and ONE little photograph. To some it means pure happy, and they can scrap it all day, but to others fear and trembling. Why? There are many reasons. From loving a full page of either photos, or elements or to just feeling wasteful to print a page with one tiny photo.
Here is one beautiful example by KarenB:
The reasons some people use the small photo are numerous and amazing:
- to highlight little more specific things our kids do, to remember it more vividly, (in the moment)
- stories that can’t fill a full page, but you still want to include them
- because it is just how they like it! The simplicity feels exactly right to them
To the scrapper who is not into the single photo page, it can be torment (a bit dramatic, but such a good word) to do a page with ONE photo. This conundrum was brought up in the-Lily Pad forums, and I wanted to expound on it here on the blog. To encapsulate the many solutions (other scrappers thought of) you can use this particular page for and or with(eek, do not end sentence with preposition).
- part of a two page spread or companion page
- as a cover or title page to a book
- add more after you post for the challenge
- make a smaller page to print-6×4 or 3×2
- create pocket pages with each of the ONE photo pages
- don’t print it, just use it as a learning time to get you pondering different styles
- combine a few of the other ONE little photo pages-as in take the completed page and just drop it on another page and add photos!
Kimberly aka @enjoyyourpix has some examples I simply must include:
This was her page for a white space challenge:
she then combined it with another layout and she added even MORE photos!
This woman amazed me at her think outside the box way of preparing her pages for printing, she called this the scrapbook inception. Brilliant lady! Here is one with 3 layouts on ONE.
and this just made me get it! Seriously, get it! Especially for those big ol 12×12 books or pages. Here is 4 pages saved as a jpg and brought onto a new canvas. I am spellbound at how awesome these will look printed!
In summation, the challenges are meant to challenge and encourage. Taking the challenge and applying it to your end want or results are so numerous. We can do this together, and learn and try something, then take the challenge and twist it so we LOVE LOVE the page enough to print and share with others.
And you might, just find you love the clean and simple look!
