Hey all, Polly Jewelle here! I am excited to bring you another TLP member spotlight! I had the opportunity to chat with roboliver this week. Shannon’s been around The LilyPad for a little over a year now and has filled her gallery with tons of layouts. Her layouts are so fun to look at because of the unique techniques she uses on them. Lets sit back and take some time to get to know roboliver a little better!
Jewelle: What is your IRL name and your user name?
Roboliver: Shannon Taylor/Roboliver
Jewelle: Could you provide a picture of yourself so we can see who you are?
Jewelle: Where do you call home?
Roboliver: Beautiful Northeast Tennessee (California raised)
J: Digital or Hybrid? Both?
R: Currently, I’m digital only. I started as a paper scrapper and that’s all I did for a long time, but after a few year’s hiatus, I came back as digi only. It’s less messy and lots of fun!
J: How long have you been scrapping?
R: I officially started scrapbooking in 2000. I dabbled just a touch digitally in 2007, but didn’t really jump in until February 2013 when I discovered the awesome Lilypad site!!!!
J: What is the starting point for your pages – photos, the story, products?
R: Most of my pages start with the photos. Either I find the photo’s colors or subject just too inspiring that a page MUST BE DONE! But I do have to say that lately, I’ve been a bit obsessed with templates. So sometimes I’ll just hunt in the store until I find an inspiring template, pick a kit & then search for photos. No matter how I’m first inspired though, I just love the process of scrapping… PERIOD!
J: How would you describe your style?
R: I guess I’m more of a photocentric scrapper. I try hard to make the journaling important as well, but I don’t think I’m as gifted at writing. Plus sometimes a photo just tells the story more than I ever could.
J: Any must-have items or techniques on all of your pages?
R: I’m a TITLE girl so I really have an affinity for ALPHABETS! Mercy me, I’m a sucker for them. If I could own every alpha out there, I’d be a happy girl! Well…. I’m already happy, but I’d be ecstatic!
J: Share a favorite tip or trick.
R: I don’t know that I know a tip or trick that no one else knows, so I’d just have to say that I’m IN LOVE with Anne of Alamo’s trick of blending your journaling into your background a bit to look more natural. I do it on every layout now and it just works so nicely. You can see her post here: https://the-lilypad.com/friends-dont-…s-fonts-float/
J: Do you listen to music while you scrap?
R: No music for me. I’m usually scrapping in the living room while my hubby and I are watching the tube. I’m in love with binge watching TV shows. We love Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black & House of Cards. If I’m alone, I’ll watch a total chick flick.
J: What’s your favorite snack while you scrap?
R: I guess I don’t really focus on snacks while I scrap. Maybe I’ll sneak a bit of chocolate in once in awhile or a fruity candy of some kind like sour patch kids.
J: What time of day do you feel most creative?
R: I tend to scrap in the evening more often than not. During the day there is just too much to do. I feel guilty if I scrap then because I know I should be accomplishing things around the house. In the evening, I can just sit and focus because my teens are too busy doing there own things.
J: Can you share a picture of your workspace?
R: Even though I’m not a hybrid scrapper or paper scrapper anymore, I do have a little space that all my paper goodies still live in and I find it very inspiring in there.
J: Share with us your top 3 layouts that you’ve created.
R: It’s always so hard to pick my top 3 layouts. I always feel like my “LAST LAYOUT” is my favorite and then it changes. LOL! BUT…. if I have to pick, I really love how the following turned out.
R: I love this one because of the subject matter and by how I was able to journal so much because that happens rarely. Plus I think the kit just totally fit the subject.
R: I REALLY REALLY love this one because it’s just so girly!!!!! I only have teenage boys but thanks to my 3 nieces, I’m able to get my girly on as much as possible.
R: And finally, I love the whimsy of this layout. I used to collect Blythe dolls and it really helped improve my photo skills. I took SO MANY PHOTOS and I’m excited that now I can put them to good use.
Thank you Shannon for letting us learn more about you!
