Make It Monday Double Dutch Door Card
Happy February! To me, this month means I have a ton of cards to make as so many of my family members celebrate birthdays and anniversaries during February. Polly Robin here with another Make It Monday blog post. Today I’ll show you how I made a hybrid Double Dutch Door anniversary card for my brother and SIL. I chose to use Lush Reverie by Joyce Paul because of the beautiful colors, patterned papers, and butterflies. Isn’t it pretty?
The only difficult part of this card is making the card base – and honestly, it’s not difficult at all! Start off with an 8.5 x 10 inch piece of cardstock and cut two rectangles from each side. It will look like this:
Then you score the card as I did above and fold it along those scored lines:
Next, I printed everything and cut my patterned paper and butterflies. Here are the dimensions of my decorative papers:
- Outside paper: 1 square 3.75 x 3.75 inches and 2 squares 1.75 x 1.75 inches
- Inside paper: 1 square 3.75 x 3.75 inches, 2 squares 1.75 x 1.75 inches, and one rectangle 1.75 x 3.75 inches
After these were cut out, I glued them onto the card base and then added a white matted oval stamped with my sentiment. All that was left was adding the butterflies.
The great thing about this card is that it stands straight up and the top rests on the two bottom pieces like this:
Now my SIL can keep it on her desk until I send her a new card ????
This card is easy to make, and I hope you’ll give it a try! See y’all in a few weeks with another Make It Monday blog post.
