Laughter is so Important!

Happy Wednesday! I mean that truly, as being happy is a decision, not just a smile!  Polly Anne of Alamo here, and my mantra in life is to Never Lose Your Joy!  Never!

What is so cool, if you actually google Never Lose Your JOY, my scrap photos show up, as does my signature on forums around the web! I mean that is beyond cool!! Like Abraham LIncoln quotes!!

Never Lose Your Joy~Anne of Alamo

????how cool is that??? okay, reel it in now, Anne, you have a blog post to finish!

What about hard circumstances, pain and even loss?  Oh my, it is excruciating to hurt, but you can find joy in the midst of the storm.  I talk with some people and they feel almost guilty to be smiling in the midst of trials.

Do you know, seriously, you can not change the situation at all by worrying, fretting or being anxious.  I tried an experiment on the way to see my brother.  He was to have brain surgery the next day, with a 50/50 chance of coming out alive (he lived and very good news). I had two planes to take.  So my very, very not perfect experiment.

Plane 1-From El Paso to Phoenix.

I sat and let myself think of him gone.  I could not control the tears that flowed.  People looked at me in the airport, but no one really made eye contact.  I was miserable.

45 layover in Phoenix

I got mad at my moping, whinging attitude.  I decided to change the outlook.  I said, this is doing nothing but making my eyes swell, and me feel sorry for Anne.

I came out of the bathroom, smiling and sat next to a dear lady.  We laughed about plane schedules and all. She asked about why I was visiting Oregon.  I said to see my little brother and smiled.

Plane 2- Phoenix to Portland

I had the best time on the plane, played with my frugal bag of peanuts and tapped my toes to some jammin’ music.

Now I did not set out, with the plan in my head to do this experiment, but it happened, it was not really a controlled setting, people changed, the planes were still dinky, and the food just as silly. What I learned that day, was nothing new, but I had let my emotions rule my day.

So, if you my friends in digiland are in insane circumstances. Give the experiment a try.  Put your head up, shoulders back and paste on a smile, and go out and be joyful!
