Last Minute Hand Crafted Gifts

Hello!! I’ve been crazy busy with holiday events and planning. Truth be told, I wouldn’t have it any other way. This time of year I am always buzzing with excitement and ready to create some of the fun projects that I have found on Pinterest. I will be the first to admit that my to do list is much longer than the done list, but I am okay with that. I have just as much fun finding and pinning fun craft projects as I do creating them. Crafting is fun, it’s cleaning up the mess that’s a drag. All of this craft talk reminds me, that I wanted to share with you a really quick project recently created with my daughter.

Stocking Gift Pockets

The Supply list:

  • Die cutting machine (In this instance I used a Silhouette Cameo)
  • Heavy white cardstock
  • Printer
  • Glue
  • Pen or other writing utensil

The Instructions:

The first step was to purchase and download Jingle all the Way from Kate Hadfield. Next, I opened the Silhouette software and drug the stocking files onto a new blank 8.5 inch x11 inch canvas. I resized the images, then duplicated and rotated each of the stockings to fill the page. I then traced around the outside edge of each image and turned on the registration marks and was ready to print.

I have to admit that this is normally a quick and easy process, but I had a real struggle getting the Cameo to cooperate. I ruined four printed pages before finally giving up and fussy cutting some of the stockings. Fussy cutting is very tedious work which I am way too spoiled to do, but I really didn’t have the heart to waste the printed images. After a google search and a few adjustments to the machine, we were back in business. I was able to cut the rest of the printed stockings via the Silhouette. I also cut the same number of blank stockings on white cardstock to serve as the backs of the stockings.

We glued along the edge of the blank stockings and attached them to the back of the printed stocking to create a pocket. We tucked a pencil and candy cane inside each one. On the front of each stocking we hand wrote my daughter’s name for personalization (not shown).

That’s it! Even after all of the print/cut issues, we were done in less than an hour. Overall, this was a super quick project and one that we will do again. My daughter was so proud to pass these out to her classmates at the school Christmas party. They were a huge hit!

I hope this project inspires you to create something today!  Just think of the possibilities.  There are tons of cool options in The LilyPad Store for you to play with. You might also want to check out the amazing selection of cutting files available in the store.

Of course, the one used for this project was Jingle All the Way by Kate Hadfield.

You could easily do something similar with these other fun doodles from Kate.

Or this chilly pack by Karah Fredricks.

Oh, I can see the possibilities of using these cute Santas from Jacque as well.

There is inspiration everywhere in the Christmas category at The Lilypad store.

If you are looking for more Hybrid ideas, have a peek at  The Lilypad Pinterest page.  I’m drooling over the possibilities there.

Be sure to show off your mad hybrid skillz in The Lilypad Hybrid Gallery.  We all want to see!

Have fun getting crafty!
