June Challenges
Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen and we are back to regular monthly challenges! Phew! Last month was wacky and as you probably know, tech gremlins ate the entire challenge forum. It just went POOF and was gone and none of the tech folks were able to retrieve it. Thankfully Esther was already in the process and creating a new store with plans for homepage, forum and blog upgrades in the works to follow, so hopefully this will be the last blip on that radar for a long while!
But now, I’m back to show off the new batch of challenge for June. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Photography Challenge – The first challenge up for June is the Photography Challenge which is being hosted by Sylvia (*sylvia*). Sylvia has a fabulous challenge to have you capture a photo of something related to our shared passion of scrapping! You can capture anything related to how you scrapbook, whether it’s a favorite snack or where you do your scrapbooking. Here’s a super layout by Sylvia that captures her most important scrapbooking utensils:
2. Scraplift Challenge – Natasha (bcnatty) is hosting the Scraplift Challenge for this month and she would like you to scraplift a layout by Erin (Erin2) this month.. Simply pick a layout from Erin’s Gallery and create a scraplifted version. Here is a look at a layout that Natasha picked, followed by her scraplifted version:
3. Style Challenge – Next up is the Style Challenge hosted by Christa (cfile). Christa wants you to create a layout with everything in a horizontal orientation on your layout. Here’s a great sample layout with all Christa’s added elements in a horizontal line:
4. Journaling Challenge – The Journaling Challenge for June is being hosted by Lynnette and she would like you to create a layout with journaling in the form of a list. She would like your list to have at least four items on it too. Here’s a look at Lynnette’s layout with a list of (yum!) all the food they ate on a recent Disney trip:
5. Template Challenge – The Template Challenge for June is being hosted by Heather (HeatherB). All you have to do to play along is download the free template made by Karen Chrisman Designs and then create a layout using that template. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample layout that Heather made using it:
6. Random Challenge – The Random Challenge for this month, hosted by Jenn (jk703) is for you to create a layout with two fun steps. First, select a color palette from Colormind and then use Jenn’s recipe (listed in forum thread) to complete your layout. Here’s Jenn’s gorgeous layout created using her chosed color palette and the recipe items:
7. Inspiration Challenge – Next we have the Inspiration Challenge hosted by Stefanie (StefanieS) and she would like to challenge you to draw inspiration from a layout she selected. This isn’t a scraplift challenge, but rather you should find specific items from this chosen layout to draw inspiration from. Here’s a look at the layout Stefanie chose, followed by her layout:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Lori (lcpereyra) on Friday, June 6th, when the BYOC Collection for June will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.

There is your quick peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the June Challenge Forum to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month.
