I've often wondered how people come up with their usernames. My keepscrappin username was a result of needing a username 20 years ago for a paper scrapbooking site that had title ideas. I was working full-time and liked to look up title ideas on my lunch hours and interact with other scrappers. It was hard juggling work and hobbies, and I didn't want to let my scrappin to fall by the wayside. I told myself that I had to just keep scrappin no matter what, thus keepscrappin was born.

How about you? How did you come up with your username?

Edited to add: Please tell us how you pronounce your username too. Kinda like the MOC thing. Some say it em oh see and some say Mock!

I'm boring. It's my name.
I also use the nickname "alpha" but not in the scrapping world. It's from the time I used to watch this show called Fort Alpha and I loved it. Also I thought it sounded nice and looked pretty and interesting with the ph instead of just an f. I didn't know that it also means something in English back then. I was little and didn't know proper English. :)

I have no imagination so I call myself Iowan in all the forums..it is where I lived for 37 years. I graduated from the University of Iowa and taught at the University of Iowa. Unfortunately, several forums use a capital "I" that looks like a lower case "l". So I'm often called Lowen.

A city where we used to live was a "tree city": hence, Tree City (I used to go by SATW but that didn't make sense to anyone lol; I came up with it before I realized how into scrapping I'd become. It stood for Scrapping All The Way--kind of like "Keep Scrappin," cuz I hoped I'd keep up with it through my kids' adolescence). On Instagram I'm TreeCitySara. :)

Berniek isn't boring to me. I had never heard of that name before seeing it here and have often wondered how to pronounce it. You do very well with English. I didn't know it was a second language for you. What's your primary language?

I admit I was stumped by the captial I, lower case l until I found out it was Iowan.

I'm so glad that you're still scrappin, and agree I wouldn't have known what SATW meant without asking. When I've seen your username Tree City, I've wondered what kind of trees were in that city. I've even thought of the movie The Lorax and imagined a city with the fun Lorax type trees... hehe

Mine is from a number of years ago, the 1990's, :giggle - before I was married. I have a super long name with middle names and past family names, a family tradition, I was trying to be simple. jk were my initials, and 703 is my birthday. I've used it so many places, and occasionally it will become jkm703.

I've also been known as The Typative Scrapper.

Mine isn't exciting... my first two initials and my last name. I use it pretty much everywhere. My husband and my family (mainly my dad) call me TK a lot of the time... so I just went with that versus my name when I had to come up with a username. I also don't think I realized at the time (many, many years ago), that this was how I was going to be known within a community. I just came up with login info, versus thinking about it being my "name".

I am boring too, have been Stefanie or StefanieS. When those have already been nabbed I go with Eyeore, which was how I remembered Winnie The Pooh's Donkey friend's name being spelled back in the day. Now it seems to be Eeyore so mine looks like an eye and ears (Afikaans "ore" is ears) which is a tad weird, but it made total sense at the time.

Mine is boring LOL. I live in BC Canada, hence the bc...add in that I am a girl....hence the gal and 25 yrs ago or whenever I first started getting on the internet....hence adding in a few zeros b/c some forums already had a bcgal. So bcgal00 has been my name online forever. Only once have I had to add another zero somewhere online b/c bcgal00 was already taken.

amien1 = Amie, My maiden name was Nicholson & because I needed a number for some sort of log on thingy- I added the 1.

Like previous posters- It was more of a log on thing (and my email is amien1@....) and I never realized it would become my 'name' :) I've had the same email & name for years & years & years and didn't see any reason to change it now!

well
I am Anne with the E please ♥
but
I am NOT in Texas! bhahah..I actually forgot about the Alamo when making this name.
the Alamo is for my town Alamogordo...
anne of alamogordo is way to long
and since Gordo is FAT in spanish I didn't want to be Fat Anne or Anne from FaT hhaha
Anne Of Alamo
I actually have this as my siggy on the phone, and being Anne is rather common, I get called this all the time. Especially at our church conference.
And funny is many will call my hubby Mr. Ofalamo! bhahah
one of my best friends in real life as in we lived next door to each other and go to the same church, used to be more active is AlaMama she designed as Pressed Petals long ago...I thought hers was so clever. lol

Back when I came up with my username, we were all warned not to use our real names on the internet, so I spent some time trying to come up with a name that "fit" me and was unique enough to not be common. I was mostly on anime boards back in those days, so I chose "sakura", after a couple of my favorite anime characters, and "panda" because I used to collect giant panda bears. I figured that no one else would be foolish enough to combine those words ("cherry blossom panda") and a google search came up with nothing, so that's what I went with.

(It actually is "sakura-panda", but a lot of forums won't take the hyphen, so I've been "sakura-panda", "sakura panda", and "sakurapanda" where I couldn't use either a hyphen or a space.)

When I google it now, none of the results on the first few pages are me.

So you want me to reveal my deep dark secret? Carilyne is not my real name on my birth certificate but I will be legally changing it.
Midway in my recovery from childhood trauma I realized how separated parts of me had become and some even locked away. I was playing with my real name Carrie Lynn which my entire maternal side of the family called me. I took out the double letters and tucked the e at the end. To me it symbolizes my reaching wholeness again and being who I was created to be (I was named after my aunt Caroline and always felt gipped that mom split it). And I would prefer it be pronounced as Caroline only with "short i" sound. But I just like being called it no matter how you pronounce it.

My real name is Ulrike and my parents always used to call me Rikki (or Ricki, not sure, I never saw it spelled out) when I was little. So I went with that everywhere online.
And guess what: I just googled the name (to see how many are out there) and entries on the Urban Dictionary came up that make me the super girl, :-). If only....

this is fun and such a great idea! i love hearing the story behind everyone's user names.

mine is obvious - but i've also gone by posiegirl in various places (i ran an etsy shop called Pretty in Posies for years making felt flower accessories). but sometimes i ran into issues securing that name so i decided to just transition to my name for ease.

@keepscrappin - i was slightly awestruck by you mentioning you've been scrapping for 20 years. and was like "wow". but then i stopped to think that i've been scrapping for 16. it seems so crazy to say that outloud! :beat we are definitely dating ourselves! lol.

@Iowan it took me a while to figure out what your user name meant too. I think I saw you do a page about living in Iowa and it finally dawned on me!

@berniek - in my head i always say Bernie K when i see your user name! i have to stop doing that! :beat

@carilyne {{hugs}} and then some more {{hugs}} :beat i think in my head i have been pronouncing it as Cari Lynne so it's nice to know your preference is "caroline" / short "i"
