I've masked before, but not in multiple layers like this. It was fun, and really relaxing. Thank you.
Loved this Jenn!! I loved your example and used your page as some inspiration for my page with making my own word art title using Arial Narrow font and the line tool in PS... thank you!
What version of Artisan do you have? I use it myself. 5 & 6 - it's pretty simple. I'm going to go do it and then I'll give instructions.
I also use Artisan. Any challenge with paint isn’t as friendly, but I’ve always come up with something similar to the post above. I’m going to play around with it today, and I’ll let you know what I come up with.
@pearkat @Genniejoy so I realized you have to use Outliner with no stroke on it, but today I'm using Artisan 6 for the first time and it's not looking like it normally did. I am like 99% sure this was how I did it add paint to page, choose "insert - outliner" and it creates a dashed image around the paint. Up in the top you choose not stroke as a border. Then you right click and fill as photo. But for the life of me today the insert tool isn't working well. I'm going to try a bunch of paint options. The old way I realized (in 4 or lower, and maybe even today) is add paint to your page, have it chosen, go to your photos tab and click on the photo and choose "fill selected element with photo". but doing it this way never lines up correctly for me. But it might be what I have to do today.
@pearkat @Genniejoy Here's my playing around. The paint I used are from Lynn Grieveson & Sahlin Studios. the one in the upper left corner is just filling the photo to the element directly by using the photo tab and choosing "fill selected element with photo. the one on the right is the same paint, but is what it's doing when I choose outliner, and this is really frustrating me because I know it's worked in the past and I don't know what I'm doing wrong today. the first way above works well if you can line the picture up ok enough within the element when prompted. I can do more screenshots later if necessary, but I just logged on before church to see what I needed to think about today!
At first I thought this was going to be so easy because I have used paint masks for photos countless times. But I’ve never thought to layer them. When I read you used ELEVEN layers my jaw dropped. Awesome! I’ll be having fun playing with this a bit later today!
I think I didn't follow the rules properly because I have two photos here in my page with the cannas. I extracted the canna and used it as an element. I have used one photo in 3 layers. I took this photo in about 1978. Yes, with a film camera. Day 8 Take 2 I Gotta Know Right Now! | The Lilypad (the-lilypad.com) Day 8 Bumble And Canna 2022 | The Lilypad (the-lilypad.com)
I think I used about eight layers of various paints to create a huge cluster to fit around my photo. The added extra paint splats and things for my cluster
@pearkat @Genniejoy I think the quick way of doing it is to use the option when clicking on the photo directly and choosing "fill selected element with photo. I'm horrible at giving online instructions, but here's my screenshot showing what I did this morning....The trick is to have a paint option that is thick enough to allow your photo to shine through....and then to line up the box in the upper left when it pops up. For this paint, I ended up centering near the upper red arrow. The circle down on the photo is where you'll choose the "fill selected element with photo". this was my result after lining up the picture. Then I added another, added a "wrinkle" effect, added some more paint behind it and my cluster, and here is my final page. I'm sure others may have a better way of doing it, but that is how I accomplished my page!
