January 6: Dispersion (Technique Challenge)

Oh, that was hard! I think I watched that video 20 times, tried 3 or 4 different pictures before settling on this one. Not my favorite layout, but it's done!

I found this video. Hope it's helpful!

I've been following it step by step and my final output looks nothing like the sample. I'm even reaching out in FB tutorial groups for help and not getting anywhere.

I'm at a loss as to why when I colour out the unliquified layer I end up with a final image that shows a shadow of the shape?

Well it is clear that I never got mine to look like any of the samples and I have struggled and struggled. Here's how mine turned out and I am calling it DONE! Hope this qualified. The message on my journaling card on the layout says it all!

I just hope this qualifies. This has been a miserable day trying to get this done.

I don't understand why the engines look like they do... any ideas which mask I'm doing wrong.

I'm using affinity photo on iPad

Hmmm I really like where this is going, but I see what you mean about the engines. This is where you should have the white mask using a black brush. I'm not sure about the ins and outs of Affinity Photo, but I can do some poking around to see if I can be of any help. Is there any way you can do some kind of eraser effect in that area that might help achieve a similar look?

Not totally happy with it... but since I redid it about four times, I'm done, lol! Great challenge! I love learning something new!

Where are you stuck? And what program?
The masking and the stippling...

I used a much larger brush than everyone. Is this good enough?

I have the stippling through her hair but it doesn't have the as much of the scatter/smear...
