January 4: Photo blended into background

This was so much fun! Photo was taken January 1. I learned something new and will use this more often!

This one took a lot of effort. Thank you to those of you who helped me figure it out. I think I finally learned to blend! At least, I hope I remember what you taught me. lol I love learning new skills so thanks for the challenge. This is a very simple layout since I was just focused on figuring it out and getting it done.

 
I know I have a sandy paper in my stash and I'm sure I'll find it now that my page is done...but it's okay, I found a great one to use here!!

 
Hope this is what you're looking for - mash-up of masking, gradients, and blending. I could play with this for days, but then I don't have days, so this is it!

love seeing these guys on the way home - the top and bottom of the photo are blended into the backgrd paper, which is a blue and yellow blend from Lynn Grieveson's Big Sky kit, using a mask from NBK's Remembrance Page Blenders
