Welcome to the very last day of MOC7! It's been such an exciting and inspiring month with so many of you really stretching your creativity to learn and grow as scrappers. As always, we love the sense of togetherness in the community that shines even brighter during MOC. Thank you for sharing January with us. I also want to thank Julie, Courtney and all of the Pollys for their extraordinary work in bringing MOC7 to life.

I do have a bit of news to share with you before we dive into the Day 31 Challenge. We've had many requests for MORE fun like this month. It's something that we've done periodically throughout the years with other events like Summer School and Document Your December, but this year we are keeping the scrap train running right through February and into March. That's right! Once MOC is over, our regular monthly challenges will begin on February 1st. Then.... on February 12, we have a VERY SPECIAL month-long scrapping event happening here at TLP. It is going to allow you keep that creativity flowing and keep scrapping right into March. We can't wait to share the details with you... more soon!! Trust me when I say, you are going to LOVE it!!

Now, on to our challenge for Day 31. (You made it!)

During the very first Month of Challenges, my Day 31 was a pocket page. Remember, that was 7 years ago and pocket pages were just getting started in digiland. It might have been one of the most hated challenges ever and lots of freaking out occurred! Ah, the memories! LOL I'd like to think we've learned so much during the last 7 years that you will view today's challenge through the lens of MOC spirit and not freak out. :D

This year, I once again want to bring a new format to you for exploration: The Traveler's Notebook, or TN for short. I am in love with the versatility of this format and the different ways that it can encourage us to tell our stories. Despite the name, this is NOT just for travel pages. It's a wonderfully different way to scale our layouts, record our memories on adjacent pages and, of course, challenge our creativity. (I've provided a download here for size guidance if you need it.)

Of course, it wouldn't be MOC without a twist. In addition to scrapping your layout in Traveler's Notebook format, I also want you to scrap memories or events that are connected or interwoven in an unexpected way. So many of the moments in our lives, whether big or small, are intertwined. Even though we often focus on the "snapshot" in our scrapping, where we capture the photo and story of that moment, there's also story between the moments and how they relate to each other. For those of you who are MOC veterans, you know is something I enjoy prompting you to explore. So, I am asking you to put on your thinking caps for this one! I recognize that "connected moments" concept is open to interpretation and as long as you make a good faith effort with your journaling, you'll be approved. Also, I hope that the interplay between the TN pages facing each other and the concept of sharing some interwoven memories will inspire you.

The page that I've shared is a pretty personal and emotional story, but yours most definitely does NOT have to be. Some other ideas:
    - a person from your past that reappeared in your life
    - a meaningful sign or symbol that repeatedly occurs for you
    - a special place that you visited as a child and as an adult

    Requirements:
    - Your layout must be 2 Traveler's Notebook size pages facing each other. (For easy upload to the gallery, I do suggest these are on a 12x12 canvas.)

    - You may use photos but they are not required.

    - Your layout must contain at least 50 words of journaling explaining the connection or interwoven memories you've scrapped. (This cannot be the same words or sentence repeated.)

    General Requirements:
Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:
    • Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site).
    • Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean.
    • Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish.
Pages should contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).

Second post - reserved for clarification!!

The FORMAT is Traveler’s Notebook but the topic of your page does NOT have to be travel.

Love the sound of the month long scrapping event coming soon.
Wonderful way to keep me scrapping and focused on any and everything happy and "not heat of summer" related.
This is a new size for me to try, but love the examples. Thanks for the template too, it does make it so much more manageable.

Well, that's an unexpected challenge, LOL! I'm not going to freak out, but I would never have guessed that as a final challenge. Going to have to ponder the unexpected connection aspect of the journaling. I may have an idea.

QUESTION: I just want to make sure... If I do a layout about two people and how they're connected (unexpected) or a person and a thing, but NOT travel, as long as it's in a TN dimension and the journaling is in the spirit, it's OK?

@Aerobigirl the format is TN but the topic is not travel specific. My own example page has nothing to do with travel at all :)

hmmm, this is a challenge. Never done this before and not sure where to start. So I found a connection. This is my first TN but definitely not my last. I loved doing this. Hope I did it right.

QUESTION: I actually have a travelers notebook that I started last summer. Is it OK to do a “paper” page instead of a digital one, as long as the subject is on topic AND we use digital products that we print out first?

So, @lmccandless, I was paralyzed for, like, 5 minutes wondering, "What in the world am I going to scrap with this prompt?!"

And then it came to me in a flash & I stayed up WAY too late to get it done before I forgot. :) Thanks for this challenge as it really was a story that needed to be told.

This is such an ironic "last challenge" for me, because I have just this month, entered the world of Traveler's Notebooks and pocket camera photos! What a great way to end this awesome MOC (my first, but certainly not my last!). Thank you, everyone, for the work, the inspiration, and for really challenging me.

    Journaling:
Greg stevenson was 7-turning-8 when we became BFFs with his parents, Steve and Dorris while Dave and Steve were serving in the Army at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. We were newly born-again Christians, and spent lots of time together. If we didn’t see each other every day, it meant someone was on vacation! Our doors were open to each other all the time. Our first year at Ft. Devens, Dave and I didn’t have children, so it was easy to sort of adopt Tim, Melody, and Greg. Dave taught them to ski on the slope in front of their house. We went camping together, often ate meals together, and just considered each other Family.
Skip forward 42 years. Dave and I are now in our 60s, and Greg is nearing 50. Greg knew we golfed, and called one day to see if we could fill in for some guy friends who had bailed on a trip to Arizona. Before he could take a second breath, Dave accepted the inviation, and 10 minutes later I had us booked on a flight to Phoenix.

It was the first of about 16 trips, so far, that we have taken in the last 7 years. Each trip is better than the last. The irony, ofcourse, is that we spend more time with
Greg than we do with his parents. Steve and Dorris now refer to Greg as

    the Lamb's new best friend!

We have been to Alaska a couple of times, staying with Steve and Dorris, but much of the fun we’ve had there has been due to Greg’s generosity. We’ve been blessed to explore Prince William Sound on his boat, fish, go 4-wheelin’ in the wilderness, etc. But we’ve also done some awesome sight-seeing drives with his parents. Steve and Dorris also join us in Arizona once in awhile.

Fifty years of friendship has found us laughing and crying together through many joys and sorrows. Although Dorris pretends to be jealous of our friendship with Greg, I know she is more than delighted that we care for him almost as much as she and Steve do. We all feel blessed to have each other.

Of course... I am 4 days behind and now a challenge that will really require some thought.... Hmmm That said, I too am excited to have another month of challenges... My goal was to finish 2017, and I have not managed to do that... plus I want to get back to scrapping the beginning of married life... Got 6 years done on another site a couple of years ago, thanks to a challenge of multiple photos on a page... Kids each got their copy for Christmas, but my 3rd one was not yet born ... so really need to get to the next segment...
