January 24: Blurring the Foreground

Well, my photo was taken way too early in the a.m. And it was nasty out there. The blurring you see in the foreground would be the holly shrub near the driveway. The female cardinal was snacking, I had just gone out to feed them.

I tried getting my cats, but uncooperative. However, they did help me learn how to lock the focus on a subject allowing me to set the focal point on a subject further out, keeping the closer objects out of focus. (On the iPhone, touch the area you want to focus on, then press and hold until you see AE/AF lock at the top) But try not to move around much after that or you'll lose that lock. So, the tree with the bush leaves in the foreground worked out better anyway.

I was shooting from under a tree, so my blurred background is actually on top of the photo. You can see I took two to show the focus shift, one with the leaves in focus, the second with the lake and horizon in focus. Hope that will do.
Thanks for the fun photo challenge

This has been the hardest challenge for me so far this month. I only shoot with a phone anymore. Plus I don't have much daylight on work days and my lunch break is too short! And I really didn't want to wait until the weekend because the way I complete MOC is by doing every challenge the day it is assigned.

it was fun to try this with my phone tonight, I have a plant stand by my desk with little butterflies on it and it was perfect for shooting past them to my desk

I took this photo today, the snow just finished melting yesterday, there are still patches around, but for the most part gone. In the foreground is the banister to my front porch, with the Christmas lights still wrapped on them, I used portrait mode and focused on the pots.
