January 2: Then and Now Photography Challenge

Such strange timing. My girls wanted to dress up today for the first time in a while and both picked Tinkerbell. One of the only costumes we actually have two of. So I was telling them that I remember them being tiny and their newborn photographer dressed them as Tinkerbell, knowing that was their nursery theme.

Then I read the challenge and figured that might as well be my take on it. Two lots of Tinkerbells, almost 4 years apart. Thank you for the Challenge, I would never have done this without the push - and that's why I love MOC!

Beginning to have second thoughts on whether I can make my idea work given I have no other way of displaying the photo except the phone I need to use to take the "new" photo. If I can't make that idea work I'm not sure what I'm going to do. At least its early enough in the month for me to come up with a plan 'b' if need be.

Maybe you can ask a loved one to take a photo of you with her phone so you can hold your own phone with a old photo. And that that person send you the photo by email, phone chat or anything? Just an idea?

1-2-THEN & NOW
I have a printed photo of my mom and dad on their wedding day in 1966. (left photo)
I have a photo of me wearing the same dress standing with my dad on my wedding in 1999. Center photo taken today with both photos mentioned above laid on the wedding dress.

Jennifer - Maybe you can display the "before" photo on your phone and have someone else take a new photo of you holding your phone. Make sense? That way both you "before" and you "currently" are in the new pic.

my family aren't up to that task unfortunately - I'm the tech one in the family.

@londoncuppa your suggestion does make total sense but even that wont be possible if I go down the route I'm thinking but to be honest I think I will come across this issue with whatever thing I scrap as I'm pretty much having to take the photo myself unless I manage to see a friend of mine by the end of the month with another phone.

I had a similar situation and am hoping that I get the okay on my workaround, which was to open up a digital photo of a previous MOC screen, minimised and placed over the laptop screen showing the current MOC screen and taking a photo of both side by side. In a similar fashion, would it be possible for you to take a before haircut photo, save it to your laptop, then an after haircut photo, save it to your laptop, display them both on your laptop side by side and take a photo of that.

Do you have to photos of things? Like, maybe a photo of your old laptop? Or your house when you moved in? Or maybe you can find a photo of your house before on Google maps and print it out? Then take it?

Or, can you print/display on a phone your graduation photo next to your hat/gown? Do you still have those? Or your diploma?

I do have photos of things....not my graduation trencher or gown though as they were hired. I think I may need to print a photo to make it work which is ok.

It's kind of hard to see it, but the phone photo is of the grand opening of Walt Disney World on the cover of Life magazine

Jennifer, can you send your old photo to yourself in an email, open it up, and then take a new photo of yourself in front of your computer?

If I was in Auckland I would offer to pop round and take your pic but sadly am way down in Welly! Hope you can brainstorm a solution.
