January 13: Create a shaker box

Jennifer, for darker backgrounds you will want to try the lighten blend mode or other blend modes in that section to see which look best with your paper. Also you can duplicate the plastic with the blend mode to see what looks best. Also move the plastic around to get an area that has lots of ripples.

Thank you, that worked. Ended up using lighten blend mode, duplicating the layer a few times and reducing the opacity on the extra layers

Not sure how to get the plastic to show either. Is it done by a shadow? I think I need to make it stand up a little to look like it holds things?

Yes shadows do help, but also blend modes and duplicating the plastic layer and adjusting the opacity. See post #2 for tips. There will also be a watch cheryl scrap video for the shaker box challenge added as soon as it's ready. :agree

Fantastic challenge, super fun. Here's my take on the challenge, full credits in gallery. Wishing you a wonderful weekend my dear!

Shoot... I missed Cheryl's scrap session again!!!! I actually thought about it a couple of hours early and was going to put an alert on the phone!! Sigh...

I'm curious what the difference is between the 2 transparent covers... I can see the pattern in one, but not the other...

Not totally happy with the results... Would have bee n happier without the overlay clear layer, which made the shaker darker... no amount of blending or opacity changes worked for me... and getting it clipped was a challenge... I did start with the first directions, but after reading all the issues everyone was having I also tried to follow the 2nd set ... some part of it I just did not get... such as grouping and shadows, not in original directions??? I wanted to be different of course, and with the cat in my photos I chose a shape of a cat... but it does not look like a "real" shaker... that said, I can see the crinkles in the overlay.

fun challenge - i used Mommyish's Plastic Pocket Styles on my shaker window (which is a photo spot from the SWL Little Piece's 2 template)

Here's my take! Thanks for the super fun challenge Kayla, I love the end result.
I decided to scrap the little resin chocolate frog I got myself for my HP bookshelf display.
The shaker is full of many, many, many layers of little HP related goodies and I LOVE it!
I used the contour of a 9 3/4 gold element to do the contour of my shaker box.
And I added the plastic sheet, I duplicated it and set one in grain merge and one in hard light mode to achieve a visible sheet but keep a little brightness to the elements inside, hope that looks ok....
Let me know if it doesn't fulfill the brief.

Done with the Magic Moments: Mischief Managed Collection by Bella Gypsy Designs and the provided freebie plastic sheet from Allison Pennington
