I originally was going to ask "What's the strangest thing in your fridge?" but I realized what's strange to me, might be normal in other parts of the world and vice versa!

So instead, how about What's an unusual ingredient in your fridge? Maybe it's unusual for your area (I have miso paste) or unusual period (I also have fish food - two types!).

The ingredient that made me think about this question? Buttermilk powder. I'm whipping up some ranch dip and I use buttermilk powder, I'm almost out, and I wondered how many others keep this awesome ingredient in their fridge, or is it even a thing in other countries?

So, what's in your fridge?

I have lots of condiments and salad stuff. The most unusual things I have in my fridge that most people wouldn't have would be...
  • homemade non-cheese parmesan sprinkles
  • meatless bacon bits
  • oat yogurt
  • fig mustard

The most unique thing in my fridge is probably macadamia milk.

Nothing too strange I don't think....but then thinking further, I do have Lactose Free Milk and a Probiotic yogurt (for some reason I can tolerate yogurt if its probiotic even though I'm lactose intolerant) in my fridge and Low Fodmap onion and garlic replacer and Onion & Garlic infused olive oil in my pantry as I'm intolerant to large amounts of garlic and onion

We don't keep buttermilk powder, but I'm definitely going to get some after reading your post!

Probably aloe. I've kept a bottle of aloe since we lived in Florida. It's great for burns, not only sunburns.

A small jar of Ruta (mixed with water -a homeopathic remedy that helps me with my arthritis. )
Sheep cheeselets. Preserved in Tony's special concoction of oil and lots of pepper.
Side note;I wish we could get buttermilk powder here. I love buttermilk, and we can seldom get the real thing even...

I've never heard of buttermilk powder and some of these other things...sheep cheeselets (I'm assuming it's sheep's milk cheese), ball-samico (maybe balsamic vinegar?).

Hmmm. I don't think I have anything unusual in my fridge. I do have oyster sauce and wasabi (we eat a lot of Asian food over here). I do have star anise in my pantry.

DS2 and his GF made supper last night so I have chicken curry, sticky rice and naan bread.
I have never even heard of buttermilk powder though?
We have stuff like peppadews and basil pesto in the fridge for when we liven up pizza bases.

Hmmm.... maybe fig jam? Eaten with Goat Cheese and crackers. So yum.
Nothing else really, lots of condiments. Horseradish Sauce? :giggle

fig jam is yummy - I have to try it with goat cheese ...we eat fig jam in autumn/winter with a pâté of deer, wild boar, hare ...for the moment I have lemon curd in my fridge ...

Stefanie I don't know what peppadews are ...
I've always home made basil pesto in my fridge - I also use it with a vegetarian pasta with broccoli, red onion and chestnut mushrooms and ground parmesan cheese of course ...

Given that our Indian and Asian stores were closed when we went this month ( we have to drive to another city) we have nothing unusual ! LOL!
