I'm curious about when you all work on your MOC pages and how long, on average, it takes you to make a page for the challenge.

I only have time to scrap on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons.

It takes me about an hour on average to make a page for the challenge.

Right now I'm on challenge 18.

you are doing amazing on 18 if you only scrap 2 evenings a week Liz. Normally I scrap mid-late morning depending on what time the challenge is posted. Sometimes it's the evening if I'm struggling or it's posted later in the day. Time spent can range from 30mins to 2 hours depending on the challenge. Generally ones that take me the longest are ones where I have no inspiration for the photo or kit(s).

The same but different elements challenge took me several hours though, my autism found it rather difficult to understand what to do and I had to have help working it out.

I generally scrap the challenges daily. The quickest I've done one is about 20 minutes to slightly over 2 hours. Some take a long time to get posted because I've played mix & match from a number of kits.

In previous years I've had more time and would scrap at all kinds of times. This year, many weekdays I've been at work, so I could only scrap in the evening. But I've managed to make every page so far on the day it was assigned. On days I don't have to go out work, I prefer to scrap first thing in the morning.

Most MOC challenges don't take me any longer than any other scrapbook page. It varies widely, depending on what I have to do. For example, for Year In Review, I think I spent over an hour, maybe 2, just choosing my photos. (I love reminiscing though!) Today's layout may have taken a bit longer than average, searching for stitches and flat stuff in my stash that are still available in the store. I'd estimate most of my layouts take an hour or a little more. Rarely do I spend much less than an hour. And I think the longest is probably around four hours. I tend to prefer doing them all in one sitting, but I don't have to. After I picked out my stitching for today's Stitched Down Stuff, I went out for my walk before coming back in and finishing the page a couple hours later.

I think the things that help my efficiency are . . .
1. I'm doing this just for fun and I'm easygoing, so I make choices quickly and don't agonize over making things just so.
2. My TLP stash is all in one folder, I use the Search function a lot, and when Current Product is important I sort my stash with Newest Added first and only select from that stuff. To make it easier to credit in the gallery, as I'm selecting items from my stash, I open that kit in the store in another tab in my browser. (Sometimes I have many tabs open when I'm ready to post my page!)
3. I read the challenge first thing in the morning, always. Then I have at least a little while (sometimes all day) to think about it before I scrap. Then I reread the directions again. And again when I think I'm done!

I tend to do them later in the day. If the challenges were posted early, as happened earlier on a few times, I jumped into them at the end of the day before I went to bed because, let's face it, it's always nice to be one of the first in :agree:goldstars

But if it has been posted while I slept, I'll just wait until I have a window, which might even be the next day. It takes me about 45mins usually.

I've been scrapping really randomly this year as we've had a few snow days and virtual days over the last couple of weeks. When I am actually going to work every day, I usually set aside an hour or so right after I get home for working on the challenge. When I'm home, I usually try to do it first thing in the morning. Weekends are for catch up if I get behind. Some of them take me much longer than others, but I'd say I'm in the 30 min to 1 hour range for the most part. I really don't strive for MOC pages to be my most brilliant work, I didn't even before becoming a Polly. In my mind it's always been about "just get it done". Then, if I want to revisit later and go in to more detail, I do that :)

^^^ with time differences if they are up early it’s early evening for me. If I’m inspired I try and get them done before 8.15pm when family gets home. Generally though I’m an afternoon or evening scrapper that takes about 60–90 mins a layout. If family are home though I don’t scrap - time with them isn’t much at the best of times so spending hours on my laptop scrapping when I should be with them isn’t practical

I record my scrapbooking process, so my scrapping is actually timed. Most of my videos are 4x speed. It takes quite a bit of time after I've finished making the layout to edit video, render, and upload.

Also, most of my custom shadow work is done off camera, as well as choosing photos/editing/putting them on a canvas. I'd say I can add 5 to 10 minutes to most layouts for those activities beyond the actual scrapping process.

For my live sessions, it does take me longer to scrap because I'm talking and answering questions.

Here are my actual scrapping times for my MOC10 layouts:
  1. 6 minutes
  2. 10 minutes
  3. 22 minutes
  4. 21 minutes
  5. 5 minutes
  6. 57 minutes (Watch Cheryl Scrap LIVE! Session 1 for MOC10)
  7. 25 minutes
  8. 22 minutes
  9. 17 minutes
  10. 18 minutes
  11. 10 minutes
  12. 24 minutes
  13. 1 hour (Watch Cheryl Scrap LIVE! Session 2 for MOC10)
  14. 25 minutes
  15. 21 minutes
  16. 12 minutes
  17. 13 minutes

Right now I'm 8 layouts behind, but I'm hoping to finish at least 2 more tonight. In theory I have time late at night during the week and any time on the weekend, but in reality I tend to be so tired by the time I'm free to scrap during the week that I get less than 30 minutes done each night. I probably complete about 2 layouts Monday through Friday and then catch up on the others over the weekend. The fact that MOC is in January helps me a lot--between the cold weather and work/school/kids' activities slowing down in January, we're home a lot more than in other months. My grad school class starts up this week, so I'll only have Saturdays and some nights after that. But Virginia schools cancel easily for snow, so I may get more bonus time off when the preschool I teach at closes.

The time required for a layout varies so much. For non-MOC LOs, I'm a very slow scrapper. I'd say 2-3 hours a layout. For MOC I may only need 20 minutes for a clean and simple layout challenge or hours for some technique challenges or a challenge that asks me to use a lot of photos or elements without a template.

I only have time when my baby is sleeping. Earlier this month, she napped and slept great at night so I had time to make 2-3 pages per sitting. Usually would take about 3 hours (including saving for web, uploading to the gallery, listing the credits and posting to the forum).

I keep my process simple - I'd check the forum for the latest challenge while breastfeeding her during the day, and then add it to my OneNote notebook. I'll find some photos that go well with the challenge and send it to myself on Telegram. Then at night, I'll start working. I try not to think too much about the composition, design principles yada yada. As long as the page is complete as per the requirements, I'm good!

These past few days though, it's more challenging coz she's super clingy! She just wants to nurse, nurse and nurse. I couldn't even get out of bed without her waking up (even the slightest movement). It's so frustrating. Probably something is going on (e.g. teething) so I hope this won't last long.

Oh yes, the mix and match challenge took more time for me too, especially the credits part.

This week wasn’t a good scrapping week for me and last weekend I was busy with house stuff.
I got challenges 14-18 completed today. The All Black or All White page took me a long time as I started out with all white, then switched to all black, plus the searching for all black items.
I can’t really time myself because I get distracted easily, lol.

It really just depends on the challenge. Thankfully being PST- I usually see the challenge when I'm getting ready for bed so that gives me time to think about it. Sometimes I know EXACTLY what I want to do- other times I end up searching supplies longer than it takes to actually scrap! But the MOST I ever spend would be an hour. I work 2 days a week, so on those days I sometimes hop on in the evenings, but use my off days to get caught up. In general, after I get kids off to school, get laundry started and my 30 minutes in the hot tub- then I sit down to get scrapping/computer work done. I usually have a few hours at least 3 days/week!

It can take me anywhere from 30 minutes to all day depending on how complex and how many kits I have to go through to find what I want. I've never been a quick scrapper.

Like most of you all, mine do range from about 30 minutes to an hour or more...but my average is an hour and that includes posting them here.

Some good tips for workflow!

Wow! You are fast. Thanks for all the extra work you put in with your videos! They are fun and helpful to watch.

I like to look at the challenges and think about them for a while too before I start working on them. I have all of the challenges written down and am thinking about what I want to do with them during the week.

I actually went to bed last night thinking about what I wanted to do for the bleeding title layout and black or white challenge.

Since I homeschool and direct our local homeschool group, that consumes my daytime hours. Nighttime, after the kids are in bed, is my only time to do my scrapping work. I've had to really set aside Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons for strictly scrapping. It's my "fun" time. Although I really do love designing templates. ;)

I would say 5 to 6 hours once i load paper in psccc and get it into gallery. Its the order i have kits on drive and credits, i tend to not do, even I have got the tips to know how to speed it up..

"just get it done"
Yes I get that way in like 10 minutes into a layout
especially the credits part
takes me longer to do this, then layout
30 minutes to all day depending on how complex and how many kits I have to go through to find what I want.
and this takes as long as doing credits

I'm amazed how you get to do all that and still be able to produce awesome templates! As a new mom, I feel like everything is a struggle. Maybe because everything is new and I'm still learning to figure this motherhood thing out.

But I'm sooo grateful to be able to scrap during this MOC! Last month, I didn't think I could do it at all. But as the challenges start to roll out, I decided I should at least give it a try and see how far I could go. And I'm so happy to have made it this far (I have completed all but 4 challenges).

I'm not a fast scrapper so some of the challenges take me 4-5 hours (today's stitched challenge and the year in review for example). The fastest page I've made so far took me an hour.

Usually about an hour... definitely NOT 6 min like Cheryl @gonewiththewind. But I have been known to scrap a page in 20 minutes... or in 5 hours... MOC is intense so I tend to do a couple of fun pages just for fun - those are quick, and then a few real-album pages - those take longer because I need to think which photos to choose, what to journal, which memories I want to keep and which to discard.
