In the summer of 2016, we went with the 5 of us, as a real family, on a vacation to the USA. Together, in a giant car, in which our suitcases fit exactly and in which there was a second back seat just for me. We started in Las Vegas en drove to Grand Canyon, to Blanding and Moab, via Salt Lake City to Yellowstone, back to Salt Lake City, via Bryce Canyon to end in Las Vegas again. A roadtrip of a good 3 weeks and in which we actually didn't really fight or argue. We did spend a lot of time in the care. Houuuuurs. But it was worth it. Because we also saw a lot and enjoyed our time a lot. The weather was perfect and the sights and landscapes diverse. It was an amazing three weeks together. This adventure isn't going to be taken away from us anymore!

In this book you read the adventure of the familie Wittendorp, also called Whitevillage, who in the summer of 2016 made a road trip of over three weeks through a large part of the USA. Everything is documented in this book. Enjoy the ride.

It wasn't at all busy at the welcome sign when we were there. A few minutes we had to wait and the photographer was ready to take our photos. He made sure the other tourists weren't in shot. This is a must see/do when you visit Las Vegas and certainly worth a few dollar tip!

I used the Metal Rim Style and a Glitter Scatter Style. I played around a little with fill, opacity, etc and I don't know exactly what I did. I like the end result though.

Journaling translated:
The last highlight we wanted to see was Grand Prismatic Spring. It's so big, that you can't see it fully from the board walk. All those beautiful photo's you see online and in magazines, they are taken from above, but you can't legally go there.
All springs in Yellowstone are extraordinaire, but this one is that even more. The size is not the only reason. Look at the amazing colours. You can even see from here the different colours. The mist is produces gives you a bit of a mysterious feeling. Like it's just not earthly or something.
We are really happy to have seen this!

A few years ago we started a new tradition: christmas jigsaw puzzles. This year mom gave me a new one. Of course it was a Wasgij puzzle, bit this was a double one. There were 2 puzzles of both 1000 pieces in the box: the front and the mystery. The first took a good week to make, the second one went quicker but isn't finished yet! lol! Old fashioned fun.

Journaling translated:
The first night in Las Vegas we had a pretty bad case of jetlag. So we went to the fountains at the Bellagio hotel on the second night. It was only a short walk from our hotel Planet Hollywood, we could even see it from our hotel room window!
After we ate at the Wicked Spoon, we continued to the Bellagio and saw two fountain shows. The first one was Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft Bruno Mars. A nice uptempo song that we all knew well and liked. But the parents didn't.
The second show was the song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds by the Beatles. A song that I didn't really know, but the parents did. So there was something to enjoy for all of us! The photo's shown here, are made during this song. They went less high, but more swingy. They made a different show for every song. So cool!
Because it's so incredibly hot in Las Vegas en our jetlag was getting to us, at least for me, we decided to go after those two shows. We wanted to go again the next day or maybe on our return home, but we ended up not seeing it again. It was amazing to see it this time though! People always see it's a must-see whenever you're in Las Vegas, and now we have!

This morning in the car on my way to Meppel there was a truly magnificent moon in the sky! I was looking at it so mesmerized, I forgot about the road at times! When I arrived at school, at 8:05, it had just left the sky. How beautiful nature can be.

Today we traveled from Salt Like City to Bryce. Slowly we saw the landscape changing and at suddenly the beautiful red rocks started to appear again! Then you really realize how big and diverse this country is!

Journaling translated:
Today we visited Bryce Canyon, our last National Park of this trip. Yesterday we already saw the red/pink/orangey rocks, but now we would be really visiting it. We went to a view lookout points in our car, we did a few short hikes and made lots of photos!
It's special to see that after 3 weeks spending together, we really are synced up. We all wear shorts, almost 24/7, even thought that's something I would never wear in public. You can also see here that we're wearing sneakers. Shoes that I actually think look hideous, but I have to admit they fit amazing and my feet don't tire as quickly. So we had to take a photo of our feet today. We made a similar photo in Las Vegas in the Bellagio hotel, but the pinecone in this one really is the finishing touch.

On december 31st my dad and I went hunting for good carbide shooting. We had seen on Facebook that there was a group in Meppen that had lots of cans. So we went there. And yes, we counted 68 regular milk cans, or rather we counted the shoots, and two big ones with bouncy balls. The organization was also really good, there were even walking paths! Also the pace in which they shot the balls, was really high. A good year for carbide!

It really is winter wonderland outside. This weekend it snowed and now it's freezing during the day, so it stays put really nicely. The trees look much more magical in real though. Winter is nice.
