Friends Don't Let Friend's Fonts Float!!

here is the layer style I made for the "no font float" in CS3 and I tested it in PSE11 and it works.

***if you want to get rid of the layer style on your element once it is applied, either click on the style box with red x or right click on your layer in the layer palette it was applied to and select clear layer style.***

I finally got off my lazy bum to download and read your user manual .

And it worked !!!! THANKS, CHRISTA !!!! :heartslub :heartslub

:) Agnes, you are very welcome! So glad it worked and my "manual" made it easy for you :) Love to share hints and tips and help to make everyone enjoy their PSE/CS software to the max!!

so glad Sarah.. enjoy! I have been having fun with it.. not only fonts but elements too!.. You can tweak it if you are on CS by right clicking and go to blend mode... then change the slider.. make sure if you "tweak it" that you save your new style :) also it will not show an fx in the layer palette like normal styles. :)

:hi5 Thank you so much for the style. :happydance2 Just downloaded it. opened an old page ,and applied the style to nearly everything, just to see the effect :giggle It worked a treat. :thumbsups

Anne, just wanted to tell you that I do this ALL THE TIME NOW!!!! Thanks again!

This is one of my favorite techniques. I do it on pretty much every page. I was so glad the day I learned about it!

Christa and Ann, I only found this now, but I love it! Thanks so much for the tip. I always tried with altering the blending modes (like changing to soft light etc.) but that didn't work properly. I'll use this on every page from now on, fabulous!! Thanks again.

Isabella, it is my pleasure :) So glad you are enjoying the style and love the blending achieved with it :)

oh playing with buttons is my delight! that along with photoshop videos...learning more and more makes this hobby so much fun, can never stagnant as long as I keep learning!

1.Download style and place in your download folder on your windows PC. (I have windows - no Mac so someone may need to indicate changes if it is different on a Mac.)

2. have your workspace going with whatever font or element you do not want floating open and selected in the layer palette.

okay here we go, as we need to load layer style: (It works in both CS3 & PSE11)

3.To load in PSE11 go to windows > effects > and make sure styles tab is highlighted.

4.In the top right of the effects palette is a little arrow with lines. Click on that and it will bring a drop down menu. In the drop down, select Load Style.

5.Locate the download or wherever you saved it to and then select it. It will remove all other styles and put this in its place. (your previous styles are saved in the drop down so do not worry!)

6.now go to your font layer or element layer that you do not want floating and apply the no font float style.. voila!

Let me know if you need full screen shots but I think looking at Anne's tutorial and the info above you should be good to go.

Here is the link for the "No Font Float" style for PSE11 (the style will also work in CS3 and above too!!)... enjoy :)

Ooooh I wasn't around when this thread happened but I am so happy you have bumped it so I could see! Because I have been struggling with this effect for a long time. I couldn't get it to work. Now I need to give this tut a try! Thank you!!

I added the style here so look a few posts back for the download :)

I'm so glad that this thread was bumped. I recently got PSE 14 and have been trying to figure out how to do this in PSE for years. Thanks Christa for making the style file for us PSE users.
You are so welcome!!! Enjoy!!

Great tutorial!! And thanks for bumping it!
