** I am posting a little early and then heading to bed, I will stay up for a bit, but it might be morning before I get to any questions** Hello MOCers! I’m excited to be the host of today’s challenge! I love to take photos and I love to be pushed to get creative with them, so I jumped on the chance to host a photography challenge this year. When brainstorming for how this challenge would work, I talked to my daughter about it and she immediately steered me towards the “take your mirror outside” challenge that was trending on TikTok this spring. I looked at some of the examples and was just in awe of the creativity I saw! So many cool things you can do with mirrors! Now, I’m not going to require that you take your mirror outside, but I do want you to use a mirror creatively in your photo. See what’s reflected in mirrors you have hanging in your house, play with photos in your car mirrors, experiment with small handheld mirrors, even take your mirror outside if you want… just use your imagination! Here are a few example photos I’ve played around with… I also found some great articles on the internet with other examples for inspiration: https://expertphotography.com/mirror-photography-ideas/ http://photographyblogger.net/19-nifty-car-side-view-mirror-pictures/ https://solarpoweredblonde.com/creative-mirror-photography-ideas-and-tips/ https://www.awesomeinventions.com/beautiful-reflections-of-nature-through-a-mirror/ Here are my sample layouts for this challenge (I had so much fun playing, I couldn’t stop at just one!)... And this fun example from Carol (@Iowan)... Challenge Requirements: This is a photography challenge, so your page must include at least one photo. You may add more photos, but the main photo needs to include a mirror where the reflection is the focus of the photo. Your mirror photo must be new. Additional photos on the page do not need to be new. You must include scrap product on your page; it cannot be just a photo. Have fun! General Requirements: Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. Pages must contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).
reserved for questions: Q: can you, for example, also a pool of water use as a mirror? A: No, the challenge is not just any reflection, but specifically a mirror. And a few other examples I shot...
Let's try this! updated. Here is is. Totally in love! De candle picture is made with mirrors. It is only one candle.
Love this, might try it when I get my hair done at the hairdresser next week.....it’s the only creative thing I can think of at the moment
I had no idea what I would do for this challenge until I started focusing my camera on the mirror in my bedroom and spotted the painting my second cousin had painted. So if you read the journaling you will realise this page is in a sense therapy for me as I grieve the death of my cousin last week.
My take: We live in a construction zone. I am sometimes ashamed of it. So when I saw the challenge, I started panicking. We don't have many mirrors in our house. And none that I can take outside. So I felt bad about not being able to take beautiful photos like the ones in the example. So instead of being ashamed of my home and panicking about the challenge, I embraced it and shot a photo of our unfinished dining room. The walls and the ceiling need to be finished, there are a lot of tools in the room, we need to get new doors... etc... My journal is about renovating our home. My boyfriends' dad is coming over to help us. He is mostly renovating our home, since that was his job before he retired.
Thanks for the fun challenge! We are in lock-down, so it had to be an inside low light photo. Luckily my puppy was co operative...
I wish were weren't in lockdown. Some of the old stately homes nearby have amazing full wall mirrors that you can see the chandeliers in, and the staff have mirror trays that you can use to view the ornate ceilings with. Now that would be awesome for this challenge, but no got to stay at home ...
Both photos are mirror shots... rectangle photo to get the table & mirror with reflection and the circle one for a closer in the mirror shot.. Thankd for a fun challenge Tracie!
hmm...my challenge here is to find the right mirror. other than my bathroom mirror I think I have one mirror in the house that might work.....this is going to require MY daughter's help. LOL
