We live in a construction zone. I am sometimes ashamed of it. So when I saw the challenge, I started panicking. We don't have many mirrors in our house. And none that I can take outside. So I felt bad about not being able to take beautiful photos like the ones in the example.
So instead of being ashamed of my home and panicking about the challenge, I embraced it and shot a photo of our unfinished dining room. The walls and the ceiling need to be finished, there are a lot of tools in the room, we need to get new doors... etc...
My journal is about renovating our home. My boyfriends' dad is coming over to help us. He is mostly renovating our home, since that was his job before he retired.
It's powerful and evocative and in truth all of us are a work in progress.
i love the bold black and white photo and the eye catching crop you chose. Well done. You rocked this!
ugh! yep living thru renovations is tough - good on you for making the best of it! Love all the different elements layered around the photo and journalling!
It'll be over some day, and I'm sure you'll have a finished product that you'll love. Love the messy background and tool scatter--perfect for your page about renovations. Wonderful layout!
great photo selfie in the mirror.. i have done that type of photo many times and it really is cool as there is so much depth and dimension you get.. first the beautiful photo of you and then the back from the mirror and the front again in the screen of your cell phone.. really cool and I love it in the b/w .. it gives so much more feel to it! Great clusters of elements and layers of paper. Your shadow work is fantastic. Good luck with renovations. I know that creates an upheavel for a bit but when it is done you will be so happy you will forget the upheavels Beautiful page Sarah!
