Last minute warrior OR cool, calm & Xmas ready | Pad Patter 19 Dec

does Peyton get excited about 'new stuff's or is it all a bit scary at first?

Depends on the toy. Turns out she doesn't like balls at all, especially hard rubber. I even bought her some soft balls that I could throw in the house and she doesn't want anything to do with them. But give her a stuffed toy or soft rubber she is thrilled. The toy she likes me to throw so she can chase it like a ball is a soft rubber turtle. There's another one shaped like a baby's pacifier that she loves as well. Her present this year is a stuffed hedgehog.

Giving Anne a run for her money with the longest Pad Patter title in history
challenge accepted! bhahha
I'm calm. Gifts bought. most wrapped. We have a wild swap out happening on WEdnesday, I'm bringing our old Kindles to my daughter for my grands, cause my Boys are getting new ones, so to keep them busy and unknowning until Friday morning. hahahha
I have pajamas for the boys somewhere now in Texas, hope they make it. If not, they will have new ones for new years!
This year, all the mommas of my grands, I got them photo shoots at Mom's Day, and the photographer sent me the pics...So I had canvas sets made for them all and rather proud of myself! lol, and my daughter that has no kids, but an awesome auntie, I did the same for her! ♥
I am going for my "get into the crazy spirit" stocking shopping. I do this every year, 5-7 days before big day. It is silly things, but the only kids at home get it...so waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier! lol
Dinner with my mum on Christmas eve, breakfast with all the kids in morning, and then a BIG dinner at friends that evening. Then I colllapse!
until New Year's Day! We are having 100 people for Chile, Cheesecake and bonfire !

I've never had a dog but I thought they all loved chasing balls but the turtle & new hedgehog sound more my style too lol

Pretty calm. I got all the gifts organized today. I am missing one gift that got lost in transit & then I thought I had ordered 2 of one item and turns out I only ordered 1. I can get the one item in a local store...so gotta do that on Monday. The other gift I'm not sure what I'll do.... Also need to go ship a few things on Monday, not really looking forward to that.

Now they all just have to be wrapped. BUT I have older girls who love wrapping so I'm going to have them do it!

Even Pepper and Paige (the Havanese I had before this Havanese) didn't play with balls. So I don't know if it just something this breed isn't interested in. Never thought to ask any other owners of Havanese. Peyton's groomer gave her a small hard rubber ball a couple years ago. It was outside on the patio for the longest time. It only moved when I moved it. All 3 of my Havanese have loved stuffed toys. I think it is a texture thing for them because they all liked socks and wash cloths and towels. Peyton has a really old hand towel that she will drag around the house.

I made the mistake of going in a store for last minute things and came out with way too many haha hopefully they all fit in the stockings because I don't want to wrap them!

Yep. I already know I'm wrapping some things. I tested out the stockings last week, looked just about right.

But then.....

DH went shopping. And he found something I forgot we bought in Vegas for stockings. And a package arrived that I intended for stockings, but isn't going to fit. So, I'll be wrapping a few last minute things on Christmas Eve. I don't mind though since I'll have everything else wrapped, and ready.

I'm waiting on the mail. Eternally, right?

But it's cat toys, and Nick is waiting on some of my presents. If they show up, great. If not? New Years' presents!

we are still making gifts at the moment, but will have finished by the time we see the recipients.

As for Christmas food shopping and Christmas time planning, that is something we are normally very well organised with - we have to be. And we were this year to until 4pm yesterday when the Government suddenly announced that our Christmas plans are now illegal. At the previous announcement they had told us we could do what we were planning so we finalised our plans.

My in-laws have bought in food for 7 for the 5 days over Christmas that we were going to visit them for, and we've bought nothing. They now have too much food (much of it special diet stuff for our gluten free needs) and we are going to have to join the last minute food shopping rush. I've got more emergency medical supplies for the children than we need as we have to have spares and extras when traveling.

Gifts we ordered to be delivered here, or bought locally, as we expected to hand deliver them now need posting or delaying until we see them again. Didn't expect to need to have them delivered to the recipients directly.

One of the 'sold everywhere ' toys for birds is a colourful hard plastic ball with holes in it & a bell inside. My DD commented the other day that the new birds just ignore it too, same as our other cockatiels have done but it's often in various parrot YouTube videos being picked up with their feet & thrown or pushed around with their beaks (or they lie on their backs & hold it with their claws & play with it like a baby would a rattle) but I've never seen it in real life so maybe there's a lot of breed specific things & I've never thought to ask other owners either!

In years past my husband has always gotten gag gifts or DVDs for stockings. So he and the daughter went out last night for this purpose. They came home with 2 big shopping bags of candy and snacks. Like more than will fit in the stockings. I had already bought candy for the stockings, but obviously had not communicated this to them. I may be wrapping candy...

We are having Christmas dinner around noon here with our oldest son and wife. I have some food yet to buy for that. We want to bake cookies but have not done it yet. Although the butters have been out warming at least 5 times now in hopes of baking. I put them out again this afternoon - and still no cookies made.

Gifts - most have been bought but not much has been wrapped. Just need to get busy. I need one more gift for 2nd son but have no idea what to get. Maybe a gift card since he is soon leaving for graduate school.

So Calm right now. Ask me on Christmas. We are leaving the day after for Ky to visit my DH's mom and his sister. I have not even thought about that trip yet - although I did arrange pet care for when we are gone.

Soooooo not ready at all....was not at all worried about the fact I had done zero towards Christmas as our family celebration was not going to be til January but then I got word on Friday that it’s going to be on the 25th.....panic stations basically now, not helped by the fact I’ve got job stuff til the 23rd.

that has to be hard to hear with all the preparations already made by so many people in the UK. From the news here i understand it's being presented as a choice between seeing family at xmas or an ICU room during the new year which puts it in perspective, decisions at the top i'm sure are not taken lightly, but the changing guidelines and frustration are both understandable. Part of Sydney is locked down at the moment and the decision about xmas gatherings & masses etc is apparently being figured out and announced Wed night
