January 25: Use photo as background

I loved doing this! I liked making the photo large so you can see the silly grin on the vintage peoples (my husband's great grandfather) faces, as this is rare in old photos. I also added studio posed portraits of them as contrast. I then added modern expressions to show people from the past had some of the same thoughts as we do today.

My phone (aka my only camera right now) shoots in 10,5x13,8 inches approximately, so I had to use the clone tool on the top and bottom of the photo. The snow was easy, the tree might appear a bit weird though!

Q: Does it have to be full strength or can we "dilute" it?
A: Good question, it MUST be full strength like a standard photo. See my examples. They are full opacity. Think of it like in paper scrapping where you would have a BIG photo printed and then you would use that photo as the base (background) to build your layout on.

I get what you mean by not blended and full opacity. Can it be black and white or sepia?

Are We Allowed To Linear Frame Or Add Border Around The Large Photo Background?...Thanks RJ

Here is mine, I love using big photos as backgrounds, but usually I have just a title, or maybe a journal card but if I put other things on top I change the opacity ,so this was a challenge ,
