MOC 9 - Day 2 - Journaling Challenge - Why I Scrap?
Font - Remington Noiseless
Journaling - Why I scrap? Hm... Easy answer because I enjoy it. (Now, the rest is what I would call “padding” back in college so that I could hit the page or word requirements for whatever assignment.)
In the beginning, I just put my photos in albums with little strips of papers detailing people, places, things and then any extra stuff I gathered from the trip, holiday or event... (This was all back in high school which would have been the 1990s). I still have the binders full of plays and concerts and dances my high school friends and I attended or preformed in. I would save wrapping paper from showers and use the scraps to decorate pictures for the honorees (bridal showers and baby showers and first birthdays). I make albums (usually digitally) for vacations and family trips so I can send copies to whoever came or visited.
Scrapping (paper and digital) makes me happy. It also means that I actually use all the crap (I mean “supplies”) I buy. The buying stuff definitely started first and then it was -oh shit!- what am I going to do with this stuff. I can see through my collection of albums and projects that I’ve gotten better and my tastes have changed and styles have changed. (I still have two freaking binders filled with THICKERS separated by color that I know will probably never get used. It’s a sickness.)
I don’t usually go through my albums very often. Ben liked looking at them for a brief baby phase and I drag them out every once in awhile for my own enjoyment, but I don’t really do much with them once an album is completed.
The process makes me happy and that’s good enough. There are gaps – lack of time, interest, ideas – etc. There are photos that I might scrap a 100 different ways because each time makes me happy. I’d be sad if something happened to my albums. Most of my paper albums have been photographed and backed up digitally and everything is backed up electronically out of our house... that said for me the joy is the process.
In the end, if Ben tosses everything out when I die, I’m completely okay with that.

I love how colourful this is - the paint layering and word art! Loved reading the journaling. And love the design. Great page! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
Your "padding" has me giggling! I find the written journaling challenges to be the toughest. I prefer to express myself with a few words and lots of images (not necessarily photo images, mind you).
You've got quite the collection of ephemera going back from high school. Do you ever use these bits in layouts/art? Scan them in or photograph then extract? I'm a mixed media fan and rather like that look.
Well, sorry for the rambling. I enjoyed reading about your creative process (and I like that you something use the same photo 100 times because it brings back happy thoughts). I'm lovin' the arty vibe to your layout too!
