(Large photo is of my Mom from when she was around 19. It was a b/w photo and I used Nueral Filter in PSCC to colorize it here.. the 2 other photos are of my on my retirement day 8/31/2012. The font I am using is the same font of my mother’s typewriter. When I see it I think of her.)

Journaling:
“I know I have talked about this before but it is something that I keep going back to. My mother was a beautiful woman. Unfortunately she passed away, way too young at the age of 54, on January 25, 1990. As we are approaching the 33rd anniversary of her passing, I still look back upon that time. She did so much in her short life. She gave of herself to others. She was a wonderful daughter, wife and mother. In her spare time, (during the 1970’s through her death) she was very involved with the Audubon Society - both the local and National chapters. Because of her passing at the age of 54, I had said I wanted to retire at the age of 50, as I did not want to work up until it was my time, not knowing if my life would be short as well. At the age of 45 I had melanoma, and while caught early, it was something for me that once again “rang the bell” on sticking to my goal of retiring at 50. Thank goodness we worked hard to accomplish that goal. I worked up until the week before my 51st birthday, retiring on Aug. 31, 2012. This past August marked 10 years of being retired. I am so thankful that I was able to retire when I did. I was able to be there with my Dad while he was ill before his passing, without having to worry about taking time off from work. We were able to take several trips and enjoy our time of doing things that we want to do, when we want to. Then of course in 2020 when the pandemic of COVID hit, I did not have to worry about working from home and/or going places where I may be vulnerable to the virus. We changed some of the things we did to avoid large groups. Thankfully 2 years later we are still doing well. Things have changed so much over the years. I have learned to live each day to the fullest. Tomorrow is not promised. Every moment is precious, so do not put off your dreams. This is the very valuable lesson I learned, seeing things first hand. I am very grateful that I have had this time for the last 10 years. I am looking forward to many many more years in the future!”
Beautiful page and tribute to your beautiful mother. I like how you transitioned the story into your own retirement and the blessings it has brought. Living every day to its fullest is certainly an important life lesson for all of us.

This is wonderful! I love your gorgeous photos and your journaling equally wonderful! I love how this is a tribute to your mother, your father, and you. It's a tribute to life and that is so special. Thank you for creating a page for this challenge.

I just saw this when I went to post mine, which I had forgotten to post....and I HAD too come here.... you know how much I love your pages looking back, especially something like this, you kn ow my heart fills with all those kind of emotions... you got so much of her ion you, is showing in every step I see of you, and her beauty is in you.... the passing so young, this is the kind of thing that shirks my faith sometimes.... LOVE that you took this subject for this challenge, no matter how many times you scrap about her, every page is full of the most beautiful feelings...and, of course, visually gorgeous as with every page of yours, absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!
Into the JANUARY Froggy Faves!!!!

Congratulations on the Froggy Fav! Retirement for me has come as a shock (lol) I don't know how to live each day to the fullest yet. Thus, much love for your heartfelt journaling and reminder that tomorrow is not promised.
