I love your journaling - telling your unvarnished truth about the difficulties of living with hearing loss. This was actually educational to me, so thank you for sharing that. Your page is beautifully scrapped - the cluster of flowers and embellishments is gorgeous.
Amen to all of this. I could have wrote this myself. Having lived with a profound loss nearly all my life. A lot of people don't understand. By the end of the day I'm literally exhausted from reading lips. And hearing aids only go so far. In fact they don't help my left ear at all. I literally just hear maybe a few sounds ..which I'm thankful for even that
This is just lovely! I loved reading your words and learning about your life experience with the hearing loss. Your page it equally beautiful - I love the entire design.
@dotcomkari I'm like that too. I have my hearing ear and my sound ear. I wear the right hearing aid just to provide balance and to provide clues that there is sound on my right. I feel for you sweetie.
I, too, have hearing loss and recognize many of the things you say. Hearing aids do not solve the problems many other people think they do so it's often a "can't win" situation with them. As you say, it is what it is and we learn how to live with it the best way we can.
I had no idea of the challenge you live with.
Thanks for being so open, honest and vulnerable.
It's a beautiful layout and absolutely what scrapbooking should be about. Memory keeping and documenting at it's finest.
I love your page, Carol, especially your journaling! I can relate to it! I had my hearing tests, and processed getting my aids in December and had them a week. Over the ear ones. I was told the inner ones wouldn't help but hinder my hearing and I would hear myself more. Long story short, I had to return them (insurance issues) and I'm now starting over with a new doctor next week! So many things I could say, but I will say thank you for sharing your experiences with me. I'm not happy at all, and didn't like them the week I did have them. I think seeing more and more with them, eases me a smidge. Hugs!
@jk703 don’t give up! It does take some time to acclimate to using them but hopefully, they will improve the quality of your life. I’ve worn them for 40 years so I have very little problem getting used to new ones EXCEPT for the new ear molds which are very problematic for me. I was back to the audiologist just yesterday having my left mold recast.
In your search for a new audiologist, if you have a teaching hospital close by, they might have the latest technology in regards to hearing aid technology and which aid might be best for your specific hearing loss.
Good luck as you navigate your audiological journey.
