I have always loved photo albums. I have them from when I was born. I used to just stick my photos into photo albums with photo corners. In 2002 while we were on a secondment to Germany, a friend invited me to a creative memories party and my famous words were: ‘I am not creative’. I reluctantly went just for the social but found a hobby that resonated with me ever since. I love the memory keeping side of the craft and I found out that I did have a certain flair for it. One thing that really bothered me initially was to find the time to order the photos online and then take out all the craft supplies and leave them out for a while to make it time efficient. My house was always in a mess. I even bought a craft cupboard to hide the mess. In the 2009 I by chance stumbled on digital scrapbooking and that took my whole scrapbooking to another level. I loved how everything is on the computer. I could size my photographs any which way I pleased. I could buy papers and use them more than once in different colours. No more mess. I was hooked. I have made heritage albums, holiday albums everyday albums and calendars. My mother now gets new pages for her album on her birthday and Mothers day every year. I now teach photoshop elements classes and make photo books and wedding albums for other people. I just love the versatility of the ultimate hobby.
With all the directions scrapbooking has taken me over the years the basic reason as to why I scrap has stayed the same….. Keep the memories.
