Do You Scrap in Chronological Order?

 

So this has been on my mind lately. Do you scrap in chronological order? Do you scrap in the order that events happen?

I don’t usually scrap in chronological order. I tend to scrap whatever strikes my fancy at the time. I think that there are pros and cons to this method of scrapping. I like that I can scrap whatever speaks to me whenever, when I feel inspired to scrap something. If I try to stay in order, it seems more like a task than a hobby to me. At that point, it starts to become just one more thing that I am always trying to get done, and I don’t need anything else on my to-do list!

However, I know that by jumping around, I risk forgetting to scrap something, or losing a story. How can I be sure that I am getting all of the memories I want to scrap done? It creates a difficult situation for me to be in.

So what do you do? Do you scrap in chronological order? Why or why not? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
