Well hello there, Pad Scrappers!Polly Liana here, super excited to introduce you to our newest MPM collection. What is MPM, you ask? It stands for Memory Pockets Monthly. Every month around now, some of our fabulous designers release a large collection of products they’ve collaboratively created. The products are perfect for pocket scrapping, including 3×4 cards and larger cards as well, plus coordinating elements such as flowers, buttons and tags. In the days following the release of the main kit, the designers release add-ons that coordinate perfectly with the kit but allow each designer to pursue her own individual style. The main word for this month’s MPM kit is DEAR and I absolutely LOVE the play on words (there are juicy sweet Valentine's images, puffy hearts and a little woodland creature with eyelashes!). Let’s have a look at a preview of the main kit:If you … [Read more...]
Tips & Tricks: Transforming Shapes in Photoshop
Hi there, if you've seen today's MOC challenge, it makes a lot of references to 'transforming', with examples mostly using regular 2D shapes that are linear (and a circle that is an example of how some transformations aren't always applicable to some shapes). I experimented a lot for that challenge and wanted to share another example that uses an irregular, curvilinear shape and discuss some of the Transform options in that tool bar a bit more.I always think of this blob in the Custom Shape menu when I think of weird or unusual shapes so of course I had to see what I could do with it. It's always reminded me of a waving starfish, spilled drink or puddle and I have a ton of pool photos so I thought I'd go that direction and make a quick photo frame. Here's my start point with my irregular shape and a 2x3 rectangle behind it to give me a size guide that is proportional to a normal … [Read more...]
So You want to Start Digital Scrapbooking: Devices & Programs
In an increasingly paperless world, of digital photos and media content, digital scrapbooking as a way to memory-keep makes sense. In this blog series we'll look at some beginners topics like how to download and unzip product and creating your first page but before all that, you need a device and digiscrapping program and we'll look at some options today. Why scrapbook digitally? Others may prefer the tactile and old school traditional method of paper scrapbooking with printed photos, but for those of us that have come from a paper scrapbooking background, we can tell you digiscrapping requires so much less physical space and product, less risk of unintentionally cutting yourself or ending up sticky or covered in paint or sparkles (not only you but the little people that might share your home and be attracted to your craft space and supplies). And it's just less messy and who wants … [Read more...]
Template Tuesday : Step by Step
Hello Polly Stefanie here again with a super fun, filled template. I started with Designed by Soco's Pocket Stories Template #4 set.Next I looked through my camera roll for all of the pink photos I had taken in the past year.I love pink and thought to highlight my love of that colour in a layout. As usual I started with my photos.Next I changed the colour of the speech bubble to pink using the eye dropper in Photoshop elements. And added in the papers I wanted to.I then decided to change up the colours in the numbers as well, again using the eye dropper tool, and I added my journaling and embellishments. This makes me so happy, I just love it. … [Read more...]
Make It Monday Missing You Card
Welcome to my Make It Monday Blog Post. Polly Robin here to show you how I made another card. This week I wanted to use the Connection kit collab by ninigoesdigi and Allison Pennington. It has gorgeous pattern papers and the perfect word art to make a “I’m missing you” card.As usual, I roughly planned my card in Photoshop just so I could get a quick feel for what I wanted to do and how I wanted to use the paper and elements.Next, I created my print sheet by selecting “Print to PDF” and then printing THAT with my Epson ET printer. Now comes the fun part! I cut 6 strips from the flowered paper that were ¾” wide and 4” high. I made sure to keep them in order so that when I went to glue them down, the pattern was still intact. I cut around the word art strip and glued it over the solid color to make the tag. I also cut around the butterfly and glued it on as … [Read more...]

Template Tuesday : Step by Step
Hello again, Polly Stefanie here with a step by step layout I did recently.I started with a template set by Anita Designs, coming to the store in SOSN tomorrow.I wanted to tell the story of our second week of January with 7 photos.I love starting with a woodgrain as my background. It really is my go to and I will usually choose it if there is one in the kit I am using. I added my photos, one for each day of the week, chronologically from top left to bottom right. Even though there are white mattings below the photos, I chose to remove them and add a white stroke to my photos. It's just something I enjoy doing and makes my layouts look more cohesive to me.I felt this time though that some papers were needed between the photos and the wood grain. The photos felt a little lost with only the paper strips that were in the template. Just a reminder that templates are a starting … [Read more...]

Make It Monday Birthday Card
Happy New Year! Polly Robin here to bring you a Make It Monday blog post. Today I’m going to show you how I create a hybrid card. I needed a birthday card for my daughter who LOVES birds so when I saw the kit Note to Self 4 by Gina Miller, I KNEW this would be perfect. Now I know a lot of people are afraid of hybrid, but it really is easy to make a personalized card and here is how I do that.First, I made a mockup in Photoshop. I know some people can just wing it, but I’m not one of them! I need to play with design and colors first before I print anything off since I don’t want to waste ink. This is the general design I came up with. Next, I created by print sheet by hiding the card design, creating rectangles that I filled with papers, and arranging the bird and title. This was for me to print off as I find it easier to print off only what I … [Read more...]
