Well at The Lilypad, we're extra excited about this month because we have an incredible, ultra-fantastic super special collection of kits, alphas, fonts and templates just for documenting every day of this wonderful month. DIY T-Shirts Using the Silhouette
I posted last year about our annual Elf Party and the party favors that I made using my Silhouette digital cutter. I LOVE using my Silhouette to turn digital into something tangible! We are having our Elf Party again this weekend. This year I decided to make some Elf t-shirts as party favors for our attendees. I found a graphic of Buddy the Elf online, and I opened it up inside my Silhouette Studio software and traced the outline. Then I used the font Bebas and typed out one of my favorite Elf quotes. I moved the text out of the cut zone and cut out the Elf outline, using Silhouette’s Flocked Heat Transfer Sheet in red. I loaded it into the machine with the opaque side up, or shiny colorful side down. After it’s been cut and I removed it from the machine, I peeled away the extraneous parts of the flocking. Here it is, colorful side up with the clear shiny sheet on top, … [Read more...]
Envelope Hybrid Tutorial
Hey all, Jewelle here! I don't know about you, but for me this past weekend was spent shopping for Christmas presents. Because of that my wallet is now overflowing with receipts! Of course I have to keep all of them until after Christmas because what if one of the presents is broken or my daughter decides to have a growth spurt and the brand new clothes don't fit? Yet I hate that every time I open my wallet I'm risking having all those receipts fly all over the place, and I end up on the floor frantically picking them all up. Is this sounding familiar to you? This weekend I came up with a solution for that problem. I thought a nice pretty envelope in my wallet would hold all my receipts nicely. Here is how I went about making my own envelope.1. Find an envelope template. This can be as simple as taking a regular old envelop and carefully opening it up to trace or it can be as … [Read more...]

Felty Fall Crafts for Kids
If you have little ones, or will be entertaining a younger crowd for Thanksgiving (or any holiday), you know the importance of keeping little hands busy. Otherwise they poke anything within reach, weave underfoot while you're dicing and stirring, distract you until the pot boils over, and so on. You get my drift. I have three boys preschool age and younger, and I've come up with a few ways to hopefully keep them entertained while I cook Thanksgiving dinner this week. The first project I made a dozen copies for a busy bag swap and it was a huge success. The second I whipped up in just a few minutes on a whim. Both are easy, and best of all, require no sewing! To get started, you'll want a large pack of felt sheets in assorted colors. I bought mine at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, but if you can't find a variety pack, I used red, green, white, yellow, black, brown, and tan. The only other … [Read more...]

exercise your creativity
Although most of you are rugging up and getting ready for sweater weather, in the south of the world where I’m from it’s time to dust off the gym clothes and try to tone up the winter body, ready for summer. Wherever you live, you can always exercise your creativity. Many of us think people are born with creativity, just like we think those with trim, toned bodies are born like that. True genetics have a bit to do with it, but we know that with the right frame of mind and lots of exercise, anyone can lose weight. We all have creativity, and to keep it running at its best it needs to be stretched and exercised. So how can we do that? Let go of inhibitions and stretch the way you think about scrapbooking, and the way you approach it. Here are some ideas on ways to stay creative.A lot of the time, if I feel in a bit of a rut I will use templates or scraplift. While that usually gets the … [Read more...]
